Vernon Carey is doing just fine at left tackle, and since the offensive line as a whole is gelling quite nicely so far, the Phins shouldn't be picking any offensive lineman with their first pick.

Wright's development could determine if we go after Dorsey or not, so he needs to be on the field as much as possible.

unowen85, as mush as I think carey has done a good job at LT, I think he is better suited at RT. Also Jake long is a LT and has been his whole career. I think with the selection Jake long we would transfer our o-line to a strong point for coming years. Also I think its time to bench booker and just let ginn play. It seems that booker is old and just can't get open, yes he catches the ball but half of the time the CB is 2 inches away from him. Also David Lee is a bum.

I'd take Long and put him at RT. Why not? He can play there easily (he has played there before, from what I've read), and its definitely the area of need on right now, assuming you believe in Ginn and Beck. Ronnie has turned into a stud under Cameron. Ginn/Chambers is more than adequate if Ginn ends up being any good at all. A TE isn't worth a top pick.

I'd say DT/OT/LB/S should be the considerations for our pick. I just don't think corners or TEs are important enough to warrant that high a pick, and unless there's an absolute, can't-miss, 1600/10+TD every year stud of a WR available, it would be a waste to use the pick on a positino of relative depth.

Our thinnest areas right now are the secondary, the LB core, the D-line and the O-line. That's where we should be looking. That or trade down.

Carey-Satele-Hadnot are obviously a great core to build the O-line around, but Shelton and Liwienski are old and mediocre. Wright and Soliai are intriguing, but neither is a guarrantee and Fifita & Page are not that exciting, and Traylor is old. Thomas is old, Porter is old, Crowder is serviceable but not a game-changer and Pope is best served as a back-up. Bell is great, everybody else at safety is either old or not-great.

That's where we should be looking.

He hasn't played yet because of injuries, but I remember reading that he probably would've been a starter last year at right guard as a rookie had he not gone down. So I guess he could be shifted to LG if he's able to come back fully healthy. I don't feel RT is that important to warrant a first round pick, Phillips is the chosen one.

Well, Toledo has missed 2 straight seasons with injuries now, so I'm not counting on him. Plus, with Long and Carey in the fold, you have two first round picks who can both play either tackle spot, and a 3rd round pick at C. The most important offensive line positions are settled for the next 10 years, basically. That'd be pretty nice. However, assuming even given that, you don't think he's worth it...

Who's Phillips?

I'd still be inclined to DT, LB, or S over any other position.

Sean Taylor was probably the most dominating safety I can remember seeing in college, and he isn't dominating the world in the NFL.. if he;s a guy they target, a trade down would be fine with me.

I haven't seen Dorsey play, but Id say...it depends on where they want to go with the defense and Soliai. My understanding is that Dorsey is a 1-gap DT mainly--he's a John Randle type, a guy who's gonna get into the backfield and make tackles/sacks/etc. Maybe we're going away from the hybrid 3-4 scheme to a more traditional 4-3 one, in which case, that's fine, it makes sense. But in the 3-4 scheme, I guess he could play at end, but we still wouldn't have one of those massive, 2-gap Nose Tackle types who just clog up the middle and can't be moved, which seems to be more of what we're lacking right now. Basically, Dorsey (from what I've read) is more like Daryl Gardner when the D we're running calls for Tim Bowens. Yeah?

Rodrique Wright also seems to be more of a 1-gapper, at a svelte 300 lbs, though Soliai seems to be a 2-gapper in the making, at a hefty 350 lbs. So if he's gonna be our 2-gap guy, then yeah, Dorsey makes sense as the uber-Vonnie Holiday--a 1-gap DT in a 4-3, a rush DE in the 3-4.

maybe you're right, Dorsey is compared to Sapp as well, a dynamic DT. I'd settle for a trade down, get an extra 2 & 3 and next years #1 from a top 5 team for someone who wants one of the QBs or RB.
