Jason Allen

Post#1 » by heat4life » Mon Oct 15, 2007 9:09 pm

Who else in here believes we should just play the guy and finally see if he deserves to be on next season's team or not. I mean, how much worst can it get at safety or CB? Let him play NOW and if he doesn't show improvement then cut him over another youngster. I believe it is time to see who deserves to be developed and who doesn't.

With all the athletic ability this guy has, all he might need is PT to make mistakes and correct them. He is not the smartest player out there from what I hear but there are players that need to experience different situation in order to learn as opposed to doing classroom/practice work. Since we invested a 1st round pick on him, let's see if he is one of them.

What is going to happen? Lose another game because of him? We lost several because of Will Allen, Travis Daniels and others back there. Why not see if J. Allen deserves to have his name added to that list.

Just my 2 cents from a very unhappy and bored Dolphin fan :D

Playing Jason Allen makes sense, something that the coaching staff and front office lack. And you could say that they know more than us and that they know what they are doing, but apparently they don't seeing as the coaches have won as many games as I have this season.

Can Cam. And Randy.

listen guys!!!! Jason Allen is a bum. I know one of the coach's on the dolphins(cant say who) and he has told me that "jason allen is horrible" and that the only reason he is on the team is because if we cut him it would be worse on the salary cap. The guy is also one of the dumbest Players to ever get drafted. But who knows maybe he is a gamer and practices is not his strong point. I get the point that he cant be worse then worrell ,but guess what guys, it seems he is. We signed people just so we would not have to use the guy. If i am the dolphins i trade Jason Taylor for a second round pick. How about this deal, WE trade jason Taylor and ricky Williams to broncos for a second round pick and 5 round pick. They improve there defense and also get a running back just in case Travis henry gets suspended..

If the Chin let it be known that he would accept the Dolphins head coaching position, wouldn't you kick Cam to the curb?

The only person dumb enough to trade a 2nd rounder for Taylor is coaching the University of Pittsburgh.

well unless your getting a proven upgrade, you'd be setting the team back even further by getting rid of Cam. No way Chin comes here, he'll go to Carolina if they miss the playoffs or somewhere close to the cusp.

We HAVE to stick with Cam & Randy for a few years to see if they draft better and to see what happens with Beck next year. 4 coaches + drafters in 5 years = this mess. Cameron has undoubtedly improved Brown. Houck has done wonders with the line.

Donovan Darius was cut; hopefully this means that Allen will get more opportunities to get out there and show what he can/can't do.

Did anyone else catch that article in the Herald a couple days ago that pointed out that of the 32 1st round picks that were selected in the 2006 draft, 28 (!!!) of them are starting. And the other 3 are at least in their respective team's rotation. So Jason Allen is the only guy not playing. That's inconceivably bad.

And what's worse, he seems like an incredible physical specimen. Blazing speed, solidly built, hard-hitter, sure-tackler. I don't understand why he can't get his act together.

What is more scary is that the ONLY Pro Bowl players drafted by this team are Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas; drafted by Jimmy Johnson over 10 years ago!!!!

hes not as bad as we would think, considering he couldnt get any playing time. hes definitly more of a run stopping safety than a cover guy

Yeah, so far he's only been involved in running plays, I think the only tackle he had on Sunday against a receiver was when he had to put a hand on a guy who had fallen when he had caught the pass. And then there was also the Will Allen pick play where it looked like Jason might've gotten there a little late had the pass been thrown well, but I can't be certain, perhaps Jason slowed down when he saw that Allen was in great position to take it away.

He'll get more opportunities to make plays on Sunday against McNabb, hopefully we'll see some passes defended.

I can see he is using his football instincts more than just thinking of where he needs to be. This is why he is making plays now. Like I said on my original post, maybe he just needed some PT during games to allow his skills to develop at this level. Let's not forget that Troy Polamalu did not become a Pro Bowl Safety until his 3rd year in this league. Maybe Jason Allen takes off as a late bloomer and becomes a mainstay on our defense.

Didn't know that about Polamalu. I thought he was an impact player right out of the gates.

Bodes well for Allen.

Correction, Polamalu actually went to the Pro Bowl in his 2nd season. In his 1st season, he got the type of PT Jason Allen is getting now with similar type of production. That is where I was going with my comparison until I messed up the number of years.

Either way, I hope Jason Allen can grow into a HUGE year 3 that includes a Pro Bowl. He definetely has talent to do it plus he is getting the confidence. I am not sure he will ever be Troy Polamalu but anything close I will be happy with considered both were picked 16th in the draft in different years.
