someone has sense: Green put on IR

Post#1 » by Lane1974 » Sat Oct 20, 2007 6:36 pm

MIAMI -- Miami Dolphins quarterback Trent Green was placed on injured reserve Saturday, shelving him for the rest of the season following his second severe concussion in 13 months.

Green said he has made no decision about trying to play next year. A series of test results were normal following the latest injury Oct. 7, but doctors were concerned about possible long-term effects and declined to clear the 37-year-old Green to play.

By putting him on injured reserve, the Dolphins freed up a spot on the 53-man roster, which they used to activate receiver Kerry Reed from the practice squad.

"At this point, this is the best thing for Trent and the team," coach Cam Cameron said in a statement. "The doctors have prescribed rest for now. No long-term decisions regarding Trent's future have been made."

Good move for both Green and the Dolphins. Football aside, Green is a well liked guy and looking out for his health should be a priority of his. IMO he would make a nice assistant and maybe even groom him to become OC in a year or two so Cam can concentrate more in coaching.
As for the team, they get to see if Lemon is a lemon or if he could become something more than a backup. His next contract with the franchise is on the line. It also gives Beck some time of practice with the first team and "hopefully" he can become the QB we all have been waiting for since Marino left.

Plus they activated Kerry Reed. I am curious to see what he's got.

Yes they did which is why I wouold like to see what's up with him. Hopefully we found an undrafted gem.

As for Green, he needs a bumper sticker that reads : "IR is better than ER"

Who's our QB coach these days? A guy like Green could be a great addition to our staff.
