Zach Thomas to be cut

Post#1 » by tessai » Thu Feb 14, 2008 6:16 pm

Damn, we really are cleaning house!

One of the faces of the Miami Dolphins is no longer with the organization.

Miami has informed perennial Pro Bowl linebacker Zach Thomas they will release him Thursday, FOXSports.com has learned.

Thomas, like the rest of the Dolphins, suffered through a miserable 2007 season. He suffered a concussion on the field and injuries in a car accident that limited his play.

After missing several games, the Dolphins finished Thomas' season for him when they placed him on injured reserve in December.

Thomas instantly became a fan favorite his rookie year and went on to become one of the league's most well-known tackling machines.

In the last couple of months, Thomas has told FOXSports.com he thought his release was imminent due to his salary. However, Thomas also said that he is not ready to hang up the cleats.

Thomas played in just five games in 2007, recording 52 tackles and one sack. The Dolphins finished the season with a 1-15 record.

I wish he'd retire for his health's sake before he gets scrambled eggs (or an entire fritatta), but he'll probably go to NE with his boy Izzo

I wish he would retire as well but we ALL know (except maybe Parcells) that is he is healthy, he is going to be a monster pickup for a playoff bound team. With our luck, NE gets him and wins a championship with a roster full of ex-Dolphins. :banghead:

Maybe we can resign him for a lower salary and he would accept since he loves it here but I doubt Parcells goes that route when we have NOTHING in place .

Drew Rosenhouse (sp?) says teams are already calling. He will target Colts, Patriots, Chargers and Cowboys.

I hope he goes to the Colts....

Oh well one of my favorite players in a Dolphins uni of all time. I remember his rookie year like it was yesterday and the opening game against the Pats when he knocked out Shawn Jefferson the WR. Anyhoo I hope he goes to the Chargers if he goes anywhere. I'd hate it if he went to the pats

I see Zach all the time working out at my Gold's gym here in Sunrise. Real down to earth guy. Loved the way he played. Hope he retires and the Phins put him in the ring of honor.

I started watching the Dolphins during the late 90s when Marino was on his decline, so to me, Zach Thomas is the greatest Dolphin in the history of the universe. I'm sure going to miss him. And if you do sign with the Patriots, I ain't mad at cha.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?
