Report: Browns Offer Anderson 3-Year, $20M Deal

ESPN - The Cleveland Browns increased their offer to free agent quarterback Derek Anderson on Wednesday, according to ESPN.com.

The new offer is worth $20 million over three years, with half of the money guaranteed according to a report in the Columbus Dispatch.

The deadline to tender restricted free agents is Friday, but the Dispatch reported that a deal could officially be announced between the Browns and Anderson as early as Wednesday afternoon. [READ]

I don't think he ever was on the Dolphins list with that franchise tag on him.

What happens if he doesn't sign the offer today?

is he an outright FA that anyone can negotiate with him w/o giving compensation to Cleveland?

the Browns have the 1 & 3 protection should he sign elsewhere, he doesn't have to sign the tender but they get compensated if they let him leave, or can match an offer sheet another team gives him. The offer sheet CAN have a poison pill, like if the Vikings sign him, they can put in the contract he gets a $100 million bonus if he plays fewer than 3 games in Minnesota next year.
