"Taylor and Dolphins to part ways
By Jason Cole, Yahoo! Sports

Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor has already moved away from South Florida. The only thing left is to figure out his next address.

Three sources close to the Dolphins organization said this week that Taylor and the team he has been part of for 11 years have graciously agreed to part ways between now and the NFL draft April 26. There

Wow.

But, if he wants to go, he deserves to go.

I just hope (for our sake), we can trade him, instead of release him.

I can't see them just releasing him. What would be the point. If he retires, he doesn't get paid. If he wants to play, he may be able to have a say of where he goes, but I can't see them just releasing him. Teams will line up for his services. Especially good teams with low first round picks that won't help them this year anyway.

Parcells Refutes Cole's Report via Chris Mortenson

Post#4 » by canman1971 » Sun Mar 2, 2008 4:24 pm

Personally, I think this is Bill doing damage control to get the best value and if he doesn't, Taylor will be on the Dolphins unless he retires. In no way do I believe this means he won't trade him. But, he won't release him, that is a guarantee.

Dolphins executive vice president of football operations Bill Parcells told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that defensive end Jason Taylor will be playing for Miami in 2008 unless he chooses to retire, contrary to a published report.

"This latest report is just another example of journalistic irresponsibility," Parcells told Mortensen.

GB fan here. I don't watch too many fins games so I was wondering if you could answer a question. How much does/did Taylor line up at LB the past couple of years?

Little bit, but lining him up there isn't what we did. Think Charles Haley with Dallas - Elephant Backer...

Apparently Armando Salguero was able to confirm that the Jaguars are indeed interested in trading for Jason Taylor or Julius Peppers. Carolina is not interested in ridding themselves of Peppers and although Miami has said the same about Taylor, it makes sense to consider a trade for him because of the situation the team is in.

He also mentions that the Jaguars do not want to part with their 1st round pick or even their 2nd but will consider trading their 3rd rounder and that Taylor wants to play in 2008 but might consider the retirement-to-hollywood route each year after that making the Dolphins BIG losers if they passed on a trade for Taylor for a 1st day pick.

IMO, I wouldn't do it for less than a 2nd rounder.
