With less than a week left in voting for Pro Bowl berths four Dolphins own the AFC's top spot in fan votes.
Outside linebacker Joey Porter, (240,238), tailback Ronnie Brown (393,265 votes), and two rookies, offensive tackle Jake Long (160,931 votes) and placekicker Dan Carpenter (143,174 votes) all presently reside in the top spot at their positions in one of the three components that earns players an invite to the Pro Bowl.
The NFL's coaches and players also get a say in which players from each conference get invited to Honolulu for the game set to be played on February 8.
In addition to Porter, Brown, Long and Carpenter, tailback Patrick Cobbs currently ranks fourth among AFC special teams players (only one special teamer gets invited), and strong safety Yeremiah Bell is fifth at his position.
For five of those six Dolphins it would be their first Pro Bowl nod. Porter has been selected for three Pro Bowls. His last was in 2005.
Porter leads the AFC and is second in the NFL with 14.5 sacks, a total which stands as a new Dolphins single-season record for a linebacker. He is just four sacks shy of tying the Dolphins single-season standard in that category of 18.5, now held by both Bill Stanfill (1973) and Jason Taylor (2002), who was the only Dolphin to make the Pro Bowl last season.
Through 12 games, Brown has rushed for a team-high 690 yards and 10 touchdowns on 169 carries, caught 21 passes for 191 yards and completed both of his pass attempts, totaling 31 yards and a touchdown.
He is the first Dolphin to record double-digit figures for rushing touchdowns in a season since Ricky Williams in 2002 (16).
Long, the No. 1 overall pick in 2008, has started every game, and is part of a unit that's allowing less than two sacks a game.
Carpenter, an undrafted rookie free agent from Montana, has connected on 16 of his 18 field goal attempts and all 29 PATs for a team-high 77 points. He has converted 11 straight field goals, which is a Dolphins rookie record.
Fan can vote for the 2009 Pro Bowl squad on-line at www.nfl.com until next Tuesday.
