draft starts at 4pm, with 10 minutes per pick, we should be picking between 7-8pm.
The hot buzz is the Fins taking Percy Harvin... I personally don't see it. I think we take a linebacker or maybe the TE Pettigrew if he is there. I don't think the Tuna has much use for a WR in the first round, even one as tantalizing as Harvin. He also has red flags for personality and injury history.

V. Davis. Good pick I believe. Maybe has some issues, but nothing Parcells and Co. cannot iron out.

I dont get this White pick.
We pick a hybrid with no real position with our 2nd pick?

He's obviously a WR, but I agree, I don't get the pick either. Why take a guy who's so fa from being polished at the position? We needed a guy who could step in an play right now, not a guy who may or may not be a candidate for a gimmick offense. Of course, their have been players who made the transition smoothly, but I don't think we can afford the gamble...

Word.
I don't know how this doesn't make sense. Imagine him a few times a game under center in the wildcat formation or even playing wideout in the wild cat like pennington did, except he would serve a purpose. I am quite excited with this pick, although I wonder if he could have been had with our later 2nd round at least.
A- grade for the first two rounds IMO.

I don't see the need for a gimmick offense player, when we needed a REAL WR to line-up across from Ginn or Bess 40 and 50 snaps a game.

I don't think the wildcat is a gimmick offense. It was our bread and butter last year! This pick makes it more potent. Our conventional offense will improve because if our better O-line. Well be able to run which will open up the passing game.

Agreed.
Referring to the Wildcat as a "gimmick offense" is a misnomer. It's just a single-wing formation. It's no more gimmicky than a West Coast offense, or a spread offense, or a hurry-up 2-minute offense.
And count me in as a Pat White supporter. It'll be like having a stick of dynamite on the field every time he lines up...and he could conceivably line up anywhere. I can also see him replacing Bess on punt returns.

I'm with Scum. I love the pick, I think he finishes top 3 in ROY voting. Youtube him, he is like a high character Mike Vick.

We need to pick a WR in the 3rd round badly. Any thoughts on a big physical WR that would be available here?

well nix that, 4 straight WRs were just taken from pick 18-21. I think we would have picked someone like Brandon Tate or Ramses Barden. Now I bet we go with best available player at another position.
edit: We took Patrick Turner. Kiper and McShay both hate it, I don't even know the guy. They say he is big but that he isn't very good. Very disappointed by this pick. We could have got this guy a few rounds later if they really wanted him. Should have taken Louis Murphy.

The pick works for us because we have Ginn for speed. Bess and Camarillo are solid. Turner is a huge target at 6'5, 33"inch arms, and is a very strong "possession" reciever. Something we are lacking. While he's not a go to guy every time like we all wanted he does compliment the other receivers on this team. USC has had some busts at reciever with Williams, and Jarrett but Turner has more talent than both of them and although he somewhat underachieved at USC he's still a solid selection for us in my opinion. I'm sure Parcells and company know a little more about what they are doing than Kiper, Mckshay or any of us do.
As for the Pat White pick... I love it.. I think he can play QB, and WR. I think he brings a lot to the table and I think he plays right away for us in that "slash" role that has worked so well since guys like Kordell Stewart, Randle El, and Brad Smith have been in the league.

Book it right now Vontae Davis will be the best CB out of this draft, and Sean Smith will start opposite from him for years to come. So far this has been the best draft I have ever seen with this team since i've been watching football.

I'm with you. I was holding out hope for either Tate or Barden at #87.
Considering Parcells' love for Keyshawn Johnson, I guess it's not too much of a surprise that he picked his exact body double. But I'm weary of these tall, slow USC recievers...Mike Williams, Dwayne Jarrett, and now Turner. With the possible exception of Keyshawn, they don't pan out. And what's worse, USC is a glamor school. If you start for that program and even have a modicum of talent, you should be a household name, you should be a celebrity. And Turner isn't. That's worrisome. If we really wanted a monster-sized pass-catcher, we might've been better served just taking TE Cornelius Ingram.
I know a little bit about the 1st round; I know less about the 2nd round; and I know even less about the 3rd round. So maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. But yeah, I'm a little disappointed too.

yeah, the Turner and Hartline picks are seemingly reaches at head scratchers at this point... no doubt Ernest is gone and maybe Camarillo too... but still, we didn't pick up any d-linemen or LBs in that spot instead of WRs who may have gone too high each?

Wow.
i am completely shocked at how this draft has gone for us so far
i expected to Parcells/Ireland to continue to try and build and strengthen the trenches as they did last year (maybe an OG, OLB, etc).
Drafting 2.5 wide receivers was a shock to me. There was alot of Pat White talk but i never considered it to be a real option. He is a winner, but with Chad Henne he will be a full time wide reciever, minus wildcat.
I did like the Vontae Davis pick, i think getting the second best corner back at pick 25 is pretty good value for that position.
I guess the montra was drafting multiple guys at the position, and one of them has to work out? at least it creates competition at the position. Pat white, Turner, Hartline, Camarillo, Bess, Gin. Thats six guys right there, means Brandon London is gone, and probably one more will be too. Camarillo signed a 3 year extension, so i don't think it will be him even if hes coming off a serious injury. Unless Hartline doesn't make the roster, or they are counting/slotting White as the 3rd quarterback, either Ginn or Bess will be gone, and i cannot see them moving Bess.
