Alright...draft grades.
Harvin, Loadholt, Allen, Brinkley, Sanford and now UDFA Ian Johnson
As far as need is concerned, I think we nailed it.
WR. We now have another playmaker on offense that can lineup literally anywhere and take advantage of people paying too much attention to peterson. If Rice can develop into a sure handed, tall possession receiver, I will love our rotation of Berrian, Rice and Harvin. I think with these type of playmakers, Sage (who I believe will end up the starter) will be able to do what he does best and be accurate as our receivers will run fast crossing routes looking for YAC's (the essence of the WCO). He gets in trouble when he tries to make too much happen (see colt game last year).
OL. Loadholt is easily an upgrade over cook who can now battle with sullivan for the center spot. Cook seems better suited for the interior positions. Herrera or Hicks will be fine at RG. Loadholt, since he lacks good foot speed, should only be a RT so he can lineup against a teams second best pass rusher. As long as they stay healthy, the O-line is solid.
CB. Allen seems like a Winfield clone....hopefully. As long as Griffin and Winfield are solid, I am satisfied with our CB crew. I think Tyrell and Madieu will be great at the safety positions.
Brinkley and Sanford look destined for special teams....correct me if I am wrong. I like Ian Johnson from Boise and I thought he would have been good value in the 5th round. I was hoping to add a tall TE and move Kleinny to FB.
I give them a B+ only because it is unknown if Childress can be creative enough to use Harvin effectively. Our offense was incredibly predictable last year. There is a lot talk that Harvin could be Rookie of the year or a bust. If its the latter, than this draft is easily an A.
