well Favre had the surgery on his shoulder, and Childress has set a deadline (this week) for him to decide if he's coming back

The deadline thing sounds like it may be bogus.

ESPN - A few members of the Vikings staff will travel to Mississippi to work with Brett Favre, a source told ESPN.

They will be assessing Favre's progress since having arthroscopic surgery to repair a partially torn biceps tendon roughly two weeks ago.

The quarterback has already resumed throwing

according to John Clayton on ESPN yesterday its a matter of when not if Favre joins the team, so this is happening

NBC Sports - Mike Lombardi of the NFL Network has reported that he's "been hearing talk" that Tarvaris Jackson could demand a trade if, and when, the Vikings sign Brett Favre.

Jackson could appeal to clubs like the Rams, Seahawks and Redskins.

Chicago Tribune - Vikings defensive end Jared Allen wants the team to move forward, whether or not Brett Favre comes out of retirement.

"If we get Brett, then that's a bonus," Allen told the Chicago Tribune. "But let's either get it done and get moving on with it or let it go.

"It's not so much that it's a distraction because we're professionals and don't really buy into that. But it's annoying."

Allen's comments echo those of teammate Bernard Berrian.

NFL.com - Brett Favre's decision on whether or not to return to the field this season might be delayed.

There were reports earlier this week that the quarterback would decide on his return by Friday. Favre, who retired for the second time after spending the 2008 season with the Jets, is believed to be having a tough time with the decision.

Packer fan here, Just want you guys who want Brett be careful what you wish for. He is a total douche and is gonna bring your team down if he signs. He's already dividing your locker room and he hasn't even put on one of your purple unies yet. Good luck

Star Tribune - The Star Tribune is reporting that Brett Favre has decided to remain retired.

Judd Zulgad of the Tribune had a conversation with Brad Childress on Tuesday, during which the Minnesota coach admitted that Favre won't be joining the team this season.

"I just think it was a rare opportunity to explore a Hall of Fame quarterback who had background in the NFC and in this division," Childress said. "He knows our system inside out ... This doesn't change anything about how I feel about our football team."

YES, it's over!
