Pre-season Games Discussion Thread

Post#1 » by hermes » Sun Aug 15, 2010 1:39 pm

Probably don't need a thread for each game, so all of it can go here

first game last night, beat the rams in st louis 28-7.

-didn't like the punt return td
-defense played very well (rams had 150 total yards the whole game)
-sage looked very good too
-too bad albert young didn't get going at all
-and although i didn't see a lot of the game i really like Colt Anderson, good hustle etc. really like the punt coverage where he split the double team, got knocked down twice and still got in on the tackle
-too many penalties

Who needs Brett Favre when we have Joe Webb.
The 2nd and 3rd teams looked really good. Our QB's had all the time in the world, and their guys were running scared.

our d-line looked awesome top to bottom. Between Robison, Griffen and Jayme Mitchell, I think we can replace Ray Edwards. Trade Edwards and Cedric Griffin for Revis, give Revis his big old contract, and then we win a Superbowl.

Anyone predict a Favre to Lewis TD pass tonight?

Terrible blocking. Gonna be hard for AD to rip off those long runs and for Favre to find open guys down the field if the O'Line, TE's and backs can handle their blocks.

I know it's only been 2 preseason games but I like what I see in Webb and his athleticism. Glad I recorded it because it was amazing to see what he actually did the second time I viewed it.

Webb was described by his former coach to have as good athleticism as Bo Jackson. You can see how hard Joe was to bring down at times and that 48 yard run was not a fluke. Vikings offensive line created a crease but it was Joe's pumpfake that allowed it to happen. Joe pumped as though he was going to throw a fly route down the right sideline then took off and broke through an arm tackle before kicking into high gear and leaving everyone in the dust. This guy made a play that Favre, Rosenfel and TJack could NEVER have done.
Remember he is bigger than Favre and TJack but runs a 4.4 40y dash--faster than many wideouts and running backs. He's like a bigger Percy Harvin who has the arm strength to play QB. Oh, and I read somewhere that he can catch and kick as well. This guy is likely going to be Vikings primary player in the Wildcat.

Our OL is our weakest point on offense. Volunerable to not being a good run blocking line.

Our Secondary (Safety) is our weakest position on defense. Volunable in the middle of the feild.

What disappointed me this off season is that, these were our weaknesses last year, and the FO did not adquately address them this summer (while were in win-now mode)
