100%. Ya he missed more XPs than you would want, but the dude was an 88% FG kicker when he was here. Ya not the strongest leg, but Ill take that FG% any day of the week. Im sure both Forbath and Bailey will have a job next week between us and Cleveland. I will be more than happy with either guy. We win todays game with any below average NFL kicker.

I get not cutting Carlson. You just spent a 5th round pick on him and the dude is young with a huge leg. But he should be done kicking FGs this year. Then hopefully over the summer and next preseason he gets it together.

Why must this position torment us so?

our inability to run the ball did hurt us in the first half, caused to get behind the chains a lot

that td pass to thielen to tie (after the 2 pt conversion) the game was remarkable. hit as he throws and he threads the needle between two defenders who had all the chance in the world to knock that away

Especially after Walsh's rookie year where it looked like we would be set at the position for the next decade +.

That and his TD pass to Diggs last week were just insane. Was a tiny bit concerned after the second half last week but you can't play the position much better than he did today.

Yup. Just goes to show you what a mental position it is. My uncle was a head coach in the Big 12 for a while, and he eventually lost his job in no small part because of his kickers. They lost a bowl game to Alabama one year because he kicked a 40-plus yard field goal OVER one of the uprights. All the leg strength in the world, just couldn't do it consistently. A good, consistent kicker is worth his weight in gold.

I had some stuff going on at the end of the game and after the pick I checked out. Imagine my surprise 40 minutes later when I find out the game is still going. I flip back to the game just in time to see Carlson miss the game winner. I didn’t know whether to be happy or disappointed.

I would have felt kind of dirty winning that game. Refs F up, sh*t happens, it's only the second week, they still got half a win out of it. Hardly the end of the world. But of all the bad, confusing rules the NFL has implemented in recent years -- Sendejo was victim to another one, the "defenseless receiver" rule -- this is by far the worst. In this particular case, that was just a clean, hard play by Matthews. I don't see how they can expect players to rush the passer effectively if they're going to call that kind of stuff.

In most seasons I pencil the game in Green Bay up as a loss, so even a tie is kind of a win for us but looking at the rest of our schedule we really don't want to be giving up any games we could win. After Buffalo, we have back to back road games against the Rams and Philly so getting this games as a win really would have been nice.

Our schedule is so brutal. A win definitely would have been better. (Duh; wins are always better.)

I never like to celebrate someone losing their job. But Im sorry Im glad this happened. That was horrible to watch.

Read on Twitter

I guess people are saying we are signing Dan Bailey. What a big time upgrade and what a massive waste of a 5th round pick.

I feel bad for Carlson, but there are kickers available who will make their kicks. There's no reason to mess around with it.

Reporter: What went into the decision today to let Daniel Carlson go?

Zimmer: Did you see the game?

Reporter: Was it an easy decision?

Zimmer: Yep, it was pretty easy.

I wasn't but that first drive was embarrassing.
