Favre Retiring Report / Now Back

Post#1 » by maryann8ginger » Tue Aug 3, 2010 2:58 pm

Jay Glazer on Dan Patrick just now saying Favre will retire, today or as soon as he can talk to his key teammates.
Body not healing as needed.

by the way here is a link

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingc ... id=5433551

Brett Favre has informed the Vikings that he will not return for another season in Minnesota, the Star-Tribune reported Tuesday.

Favre has sent text messages to teammates saying, "This is it," league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Neither Favre nor the Vikings have confirmed the news but a press release is expected Tuesday, the sources said.

I didn't see this coming at all. He played at an incredibly high level last year and had the potential to get to a super bowl this year. Sad day for Vikes fans and football fans alike.

Packer Fan here. Don't worry until he doesn't show up for Week 1. He is a Prima Donna and there hasn't been enought coverage about him this off season. I'd say there is a 80% chance he's comes back. He just wanted ESPN camped out on his lawn again.

I don't care if he is a Prima Donna, the guy almost took us to the Super Bowl. Sage Rosenfels or Tarvaris Jackson aint gonna get it done.

Sigh...

this is a huge surprise to me, I thought for sure Childress and Favre had a little wink wink that Favre would come back and they weren't gonna turn it into a media spectacle and that was why they didn't go after McNabb or one of the billion QBs that fell right into their lap on draft day. I guess Childress truly had no clue. Shouldn't have been so surprising in retrospect.

Yikes this is bad news for us.
Neither Jackson or Rosenfels are good enough to lead us to the SB.

I think they have a wink wink agreement where Favre makes a spectacle but Chilly doesn't worry because he knows Favre will be back in a week. Favre isn't going to be content just walking into camp with no media attention, he has to create some suspense, some doubt.

It sounds like Childress aint really buying it, or at least hasn't given up hope.

"I'm not a big hearsay person," Childress said. "I gotta hear it from the horse's mouth."

this was a big suprise to me too, but i am now skeptical after hearing that favre hasn't even told childress yet

we'll see i guess, i wasn't exactly expecting him to show up for camp anyway- so its not a big loss yet

Longwell says he spoke to Favre this morning and he didn't say anything about retiring

Strange?

yes a little strange, (this is grasping at straws but) maybe he hadn't decided until after he talked with longwell and never got back to him?

either way, i am going to wait until favre gives a public press conference until then i don't know what to believe

At first I thought Favre was just conflicted and while he liked the attention that wasn't his motive for flip flopping. I'm not sure what changed my mind, but at this point I think Favre does a lot of this solely for the media attention. His comeback wasn't getting the attention because everyone was sure he was coming back. Now that he's caused a media frenzy, he can comeback with the attention he wants.
