Hear that Gerhart has an injured achilles, not sure of the severity of the injury but I'm guessing this is why we picked him up.
Caleb King, the running back from Georgia who wasn’t selected in today’s supplemental draft, is heading to Minnesota.

King’s agent Kevin Conner told Zach Klein of WSB in Atlanta, “Caleb had interest from 10-15 teams and is excited to be going to the Minnesota Vikings.”

King was the Bulldogs’ second-leading rusher each of the past three seasons but was arrested and suspended during the 2010 season and was ruled academically ineligible for the 2011 season.

The Vikings will have less than two weeks to evaluate King before deciding on September 3 whether he deserves a spot on their 53-man roster.

The Vikings replaced Kooistra on the 90-man roster with defensive end Stylez G. White, a former Gopher who had 24 sacks over the past four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Frazier said the move was made "just to be able to give us some depth and get a chance to take a look at (White) in training camp and just see if he can help us in any way.

I'm guesing they wil try and sneak Caleb King onto the practice sqaud. Hard to image he would crack the 53. Part could depend on if the severity of Gerhart's injury, tho Booker is a capable backup. If King pans out... I'm really hoping we try and pound the ball on the ground to wear defenses down the whole game starting in Quarter 1.

I think White makes the 53 if he came into camp in shape.

I think 1 of Jeff Dugan and D'Imperio should be released. No room for both of them on the 53.

Yeah, I'm not too sure the Vikings have a ton of faith in Robison's ability to get the job done. I've noticed throughout this preseason that it seems like he's been getting manhandled quite a bit. White's a decent player but I would've been happier if we would've gotten another OL in place of Kooistra. Reed and Awasom had good training camps and pretty solid preseasons.

I can't really find any other information on Gerharts injury so I'm guessing its not that bad. The article also says that they want to move him into the FB position so that would mean Dugan and D'Imperio would be gone.

*IF King shows something....Im okay if they do this:

RB:
AP
Booker
King (if they think he will be plucked off the practice squad)

FB:
Gerhart

Practice Squad:
Ryan D'Imperio

Cut
Jeff Dugan

Otherwise:

RB:
AP
Booker
Gerhart

FB:
Ryan D'Imperio

Practice Squad:
Caleb King

Cut
Jeff Dugan

If White can push Robinson I'm all for that.... especially in camp and going forward.

I think there is no OL out there at the moment that they want... hence they brought in some other positions... after cut-day the wire will have some OL material that Vikings will add.

Caleb King - RB - Vikings

Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune believes rookie RB Caleb King was signed for mere preseason insurance.

Toby Gerhart is nursing a sore ankle and Achilles', and the Vikings don't want to use Adrian Peterson very much in the preseason. Craig suggests that King could either head to the practice squad or perhaps be converted to fullback (an odd idea). Either way, King is highly unlikely to make the roster at tailback.

Oops, I was wrong. I thought it said they were moving Gerhart to FB but I guess it was King the whole time. With that being said its pretty safe to say he'll be a PS guy.

So I think you're right with this one:

Caleb King: 19 carries, 62 yards, 2 TDs
Even though he was playing against scrubs I really like this kids potential. I'm afraid if we try to put him of PS he'll get picked up. I'm not a big fan of Gerhart.

Also, Styles had a pretty solid outing tonight as well. It's going to be tough to cut some of these guys.

A 3 ypc average isn't exactly eye popping, but he looked decent.
