week 4: vikings at lions

Post#1 » by hermes » Wed Sep 26, 2012 6:15 pm

vikings (2-1) at lions (1-2)

first division game (which we're tied for the lead in!)

stafford is banged up and a game time decision, although shaun hill always seems to be good whenever he steps in

we just need to stick with the 49er game plan, that seems to work great, stick with the run game, get the ball to percy and everything falls into place

GO VIKINGS

I'm a little worried about how we're going to cover Calvin Johnson. This week is going to go a long way in showing whether the 49ers game was a fluke.

i'm hoping we can eat a crazy amount of clock with our offense that can't go for more than 10 yards at a time

Yeah, short passes are what we do best right now. Get the ball to Percy and let him work.

we won! first division win in 12 tries

offense wasn't really good (outside of peterson, percy was alright) but it seemed like once we returned that punt it was all about killing time since the defense was playing well

Defense played great. Held Leshoure to 26 yards on 13 carries. Held CJ in to 54 yards receiving. Josh Robinson has the potential to become a very good player in this league. He hits hard and has a ton of speed. Smith seems to improve each game as well. Sanford... SANFORD! Causes a fumble for the second game in a row. He looked good besides that boneheaded defensive PI.

This is the best Peterson has looked all season. I thought the line did a good job run blocking but were lacking in pass blocking. I thought this was Ponders worst performance of the year although he had a great looking pass to Simpson.

I was bothered by the way Ponder played, especially in the 2nd half. He was scared to stay in the pocket and throw downfield. He's going to have to be better than that. Peterson looked great, the defense looked great. Kind of a breakout performance for Everson Griffen.

yeah ponder didn't have a great day, but i think the big thing was that he didn't commit any turnovers

i can live with mistakes that result in us punting it away, turnovers are the killer that we have to avoid and he's done a great job of that so far
