alright here is the vikes schedule for the year, what week do you think teddy will overtake cassel (if at all - unlikely but its a possibility)

week 1: @ rams
week 2: patriots
week 3: @ saints
week 4: falcons
week 5: @ packers
week 6: lions
week 7: @ bills
week 8 @ bucs
week 9: redskins
week 10: bye
week 11: @ bears
week 12: packers
week 13: panthers
week 14: jets
week 15: @ lions
week 16: @ dolphins
week 17: bears

i'll say week 11 after the bye, zimmer said he's not keeping cassel on a short leash so even if they don't do well in the first 5 weeks (which are tough) he's got a good chance of staying on longer

kind of throwing him into the fire in soldier field and then the packers but i don't know if you want to wait to start him just so he can face easier teams

If Cassel is going to struggle it will probably be in the first 6 weeks, so probably week 6 or 7. If we do well the first 6 weeks and contend for the playoffs I could see Cassel starting all season.

i could also see cassel starting the whole year (and its something i would like to see - because we would be winning games). i am hoping zimmer sticks to his guns and puts teddy in when he/turner/teddy all feel comfortable with it (and not really succumb to external pressure to get him in there, which will be high)

Week 9, Cassel gets an injury and Teddy starts.

At the beginning of the season after next.

so the start of the 2016 season? is that after cassel's deal is up?

these next 4 games are kinda ridiculous, can't believe this schedule start...we could easily lose the next 2 games, but the Falcons game would be too soon. Win or lose against the Falcons, you don't want to start his career on the road at Lambeau. I'll say week 6.

Ideally of course the Vikings prove they're just flat out a good team and can take any of these teams out since the 9ers, 'hawks, and Broncos aren't even on the schedule, but if the Vikings are still figuring out how to pull out wins against good teams, then week 6 would be my guess.

Yep. He signed a 2 year deal before the season.

why don't you think teddy could beat out matt next year (or at any point in the next two years before the contract is up?)

if i were the team i'd want to see what i have in teddy before letting cassel walk. i don't think they'd let him sit for two years and then turn the franchise over to him sight unseen (real game action-wise)

Nothing against Teddy, I just have faith in Matt. I just think Matt will play that well to the point where the team will have Superbowl aspirations going into next year. AP will be another year older. Then after next year, maybe Cassell, AP, Jennings are all gone and there is more of a youth movement on offense. Teddy will get to open up the new stadium.

if matt does play that well over the next two years i don't think they can just let him walk. and if that ends up being the case we'll have a favre/rodgers situation on our hands

I think we know what Cassel is by this point of his career and I'm hoping/expecting Bridgewater will just be the better QB by next year.

although i think that it might happen sooner now, especially if cassel doesn't right the ship quickly

I'm surprised Zimmer didn't give Teddy a shot at the end.
