A lot of people are going to say these injuries are way beyond discipline and clear-cut child abuse, and a lot of people are going to say it's just classic discipline like they got when they were kids. I think it's a gray area; I don't know if we're at that spot yet in society where we can call that child abuse.

We haven't made a clear distinction between discipline that hurts and discipline that injures. We know deep-seeded bruising is synonymous with child abuse, but what about these pictures - they look bad with the scabbing and such, but they're obviously superficial surface injuries. When I was a kid, I had marks like those on my arms perpetually from harassing the cat. I don't know, I'm not ready to crucify AD on this.

I'm going to be interested to hear what people say on this. The Ray Rice thing, everybody went 1 way on it because very few had to stand up for their right to knock their significant others the **** out, but I bet this is going to be uncomfortably close to some old school parents own forms of discipline and they're going to stand up for themselves because they don't want to view themselves as child abusers.

When the mother brought the kid to the doctor the doctor made the decision to classify it the way he did. I mean the kid had cuts on his scrotum, but AP did text the mother saying he felt bad.

If it was a belt, he'd be fine, but cutting skin w/ what is basically a whip is taking it up a notch. He won't do time or anything like that; safest bet is they dismiss or defer charges on the agreement that he takes some sort of anti-spazz parenting class.

Good point, this seems reasonable. People in other forums are comparing him to Ray Rice... Not even close.

People are being idiots by saying we should cut him and he's a terrible person. This is obviously not something he does often, he said he whoops his kids all the time, but I dont think to this degree. **** happens.

the reaction of this compared to the rice incident is very interesting. pretty much everyone condones rice but there is a split with peterson because for a lot of people who are older this kind of thing was normal for them (being punished in a similar manner)

as much as it stinks that he won't play tomorrow the vikings did the right thing deactivating him. i just hope that this issue gets resolved quickly and we can move on from it and focus on what should be a fairly exciting season for the team - i don't want this hanging over their heads for a long time

If AP hits you with an open hand it's gonna hurt like hell...

Now give AP a "switch" which is just like a mini whip and let him hit you with that...

Now have him do it to you multiple times including in the balls...

Now replace you with a 4 year old kid

Yea it's that bad.

AP could probably kill a 4 year old with an open hand, so a switch is probably less severe.

The damage AP did could have been done by just about any adult, doesn't make sense when people bring his size and strength into it.
