i was surprised by this, i know he was expendable now but i figured they would say heck with it and let it ride for a year

especially since the qb market is light this year (putting it mildly)

and that 7th rounder is next years (2016)

Ponder would be fine since I don't want to invest heavily in a backup QB, but he may want to move on. I heard someone mention Charlie Whitehurst, but I think he's under contract with the Titans and honestly I would be bothered if we traded Cassel just to trade for some other backup.
Maybe we could spend a 4th or 5th round pick on a backup.

I read an article that Brian Hoyer might be in line for backup qb

ponder (and viking fans) probably both need to move on, it just didn't work

and from what i've read hoyer would be good (norv connection!) but i guess he thinks he can start somewhere so he might not want to come here :dontknow:
