2019 VIkings need new Brass

Post#1 » by Jedzz » Fri Jan 4, 2019 6:59 pm

Zimmers final press conference season wrap up when into some depth about how he needs to be more involved in the selection of an OC this time and knowing if the new guy can manage an offense within Zimmer's plans.

This is a nonstarter solution. For the #1 problem is that Zimmer doesn't know offense and it's held all his seasons and OC's back. We've seen OCs running offensive schemes for this team that they never have in their life. They have been ruled over and have obviously been trying to do the coaches bidding. The question is, what is ZImmer's offensive requests of them? Is there any semblance of offensive knowledge on his side to communicate to these coaches? The one OC that was able to get just enough out of the offence for the regular season was hired awar by the Giants last year Spielman had that guy's back and he both pushed Zim's offense outside the box at times and also reeled it in often as directed during the season. But even he couldn't get them to another level for playoff football. Zimmer won't allow it. Now he's determined to find a yes man to manage the offense as he thinks it should be all the time? Good luck to that new guy and us all.

The Brass need to be replaced and very soon so someone that knows offense can fix this mess. The team can find other defensive minds to help continue the defensive strength as a coordinator. I say Brass because Spielman has been silent again as usual this time of year and he should have stepped up and took control of his coach who once again buried this team's season with what he does to the offense and Offensive coordinators. If Mr. Spielman isn't going to step up, he also should be sent on a permanent vacation. He's got his own warts regarding QBs and Oline personnel struggles spanning years and it's become very apparent that he also might have an unprofessional way of handling coordinators of this team.

When it comes to Zimmer and Spielman, there is no common sense accountability going on. We have Zimmer dumping on offensive coordinators and having one quit and one get fired within 3 seasons span. We have Speilman bringing multiple OC candidates under one house a couple years back to start an internal coup d'état and explode a season. Yet then we see this Mike P Special Teams coach safely nestled in a forever career irregardless of any accountability for any outcomes under his charge.

Finally Zimmer spoke about being happy his defense ranked in the top ten of red zone defense and 3rd down situations. However, anyone who followed the team this year, or any year, knows when it comes to big and important games, things features of the team do not stand tall enough those days. I didn't see Chicago having trouble on third downs and redzone play. Where is the consistency when it comes to high pressure games? Is everyone ok with a coach that is reaching out to ranking systems to validate another sub par season? This season ending at 8-7-1. Throw your defense a ribbon for that and carry on as usual Coach Zimmer. Your run, run, two yard pass offense with your new yes man OC next year should certainly do the trick this time.

I have to apologize for the rant, but I believe this is a topic that should be discussed further. If you have any new points that should be brought up for/against the idea of finding a new set of Brass for this team please do share. If you feel I've made erroneous claims, please do call attention to it. So far everyone is being very quiet about this situation and that will fix nothing. One more year of the same old same is not going to improve this in my opinion.

I keep hearing and reading people suggesting this next year is Zimmers and the GMs put up or get out year. Why is it perennially always "He's got one more year to prove..."

Wut? Why?

2014 7-9-1 (FAIL)
2015 11-5 Good - but worthless playoff run
2016 8-8 (FAIL)
2017 13-3 Great- but worthless playoff run
2018 8-7-1 (FAIL)

Look at the Pattern already. So at best, next season he gets back to somewhere around 10-6 to 12-4, and then exits the playoffs with his worthless offense again. That's if the pattern holds and he even can survive another season of crumbling belief from his players and OC jambalya. They've already brought in Kubiak to assist the young OC. Almost like bringing in the younger Shurmur to "coach TEs" and Tony Sparano to "coach OL" and both former head coaches to "assist" Norv Turner in designing an offense. How well did that work out before? Is Kubiak going to "take over" after the bye and help the team finish out at 9-7 this time and break the pattern?

I grew up watching the Vikings in the Dennis Green era and this average to losing season garbage 3 years out of 5 isn't cutting it for me. To then look like jokes in the two years you make the playoffs is harsh.

This team hasn't sniffed a Superbowl since 1977. That's 41 years for all of us that haven't ever seen them in one. We continue this pattern that is obviously never going to do anything in the playoffs even in their couple good seasons?

Is Kubiak at 56 lined up to take over for Zimmer as now the assistant head coach and OC. Kubiak has ten years head coaching experience and it took a Denver stacked store bought OL along with a purchased Peyton Manning to get to a Superbowl. The Houston years were... 5 out of 8 Houston years were losing seasons or .500 exactly. Sounds right on Zimmer's pace. Vikings also have the most expensive quarterback they have ever had and they are about to build a Kubia/Zimmer dream running team.

What could go wrong?

Gary Kubiak addition this year.

It took Kubiak 7 seasons in Houston to raise their record to 12-4. The very next year they were 2-11 before he's canned.

It took Payton Manning in Denver to get him over the hump at 12-4 again, and then without Manning he was a chump 9-7 in the next season.

This is the perfect pairing to add Kubiak to a Rick Speilman team. Perfect storm.

The real Vikings sadly failed to continue because they were constantly attacking and defeating themselves. Seeems like a familiar hallmark of the past 12 or more seasons.
