Also think he's had a lot of poo poo season outcomes. So not sure. He brings experience to the offensive coaching. Doubt Zimmer would listen to him anyway. If anything it maybe allows Zimmer to once again step away from offense. Hopefully we don't see the offense start the season flat and then see Stefanski leave and Kubiak take over after a bye week...like we've seen happen once before not long ago.

that's what i hope this is

zimmer bringing in an experienced guy to take over the 'head coaching' role of over-seeing the offense. that way zim can be hands off and just focus on defense

Last time we brought in two former head coaches in Shurmur and Sparano to "help" with offense when they already had former Head Coach/OC deeply experienced Norv Turner running the offense. It blew up in our faces that year and Zimmer certainly should have been able to focus on just defense that year. Season tanked after a 5-0 start, didn't it?

I'm so excited for 2019! Anything to get Zimmer away from the offense again. Can't wait for the bye moments.

Didnt even know about the AAF until the day after.

Total hypothetical but with Kyler Murray entering the draft. Say he is sitting there at 18, would you want us to take him? I know we have other needs and we have Cousins. But I kind of would like the idea of having a dynamic guy sitting and learning for 2 years. We can spend the rest of our picks on OL. I know Murray probably wont be there, just was curious about it.

doesn't seem reasonable to expect a first round qb to sit for two years anymore (much less one)

although i guess its been a while since a good team with a qb in place took one that early (was it rodgers and the packers?)

It would be a bold move. Ignoring a blatant need and potentially undermining your veteran QB. That being said, I’m not a big Cousins fan and any move where you end up with a franchise QB is a good one.

Vikings aren't a good team, don't have the coaches or gm to be considered a good team. They have a QB. Packers had a coach and a QB playing in possible retirement range.

I wouldn't be surprised if they draft no lineman and made a new kicker a priority in round 4. So I can't rule out a QB.

Time is better spent looking around at what GMs and Coaches are available to pull this team out of the 8-7-1 loserville.

the vikings picked up the 2020 option on coach zimmer, so he is no longer a free agent coach - under contract for the next two years

picked up his option. Sounds like we are talking about a player contract.

Wasn't Childress just resigned for another multiyear deal right after 2009? Then gone before 2010 was over. Nice of these owners to hand them a guaranteed parachute on the way out. Great people.

Any visible struggles and they are going to hand the keys to Kubiak.

Barr didn't go Jets or what? After he threw two games away last season they shouldn't have even thrown him a lowball.

what a weird turn of events. guess zimmer really didn't want to let him go

i don't think i feel good about it, unless barr can return to his rookie year form

doesn't leave a lot of money to help the offensive line

He'll have to earn it right away or they will cut him before 2021 when it really starts paying over 12per. It would still be a massive dead cap number that typically stops Vikings from cutting a player. But it is built into the deal as an out.

As for right now this year,
In 2019, Barr will earn a base salary of $2,900,000, a signing bonus of $13,000,000 and a workout bonus of $100,000, while carrying a cap hit of $5,600,000 and a dead cap value of $15,900,000.

Zimmer. This season is either going to be magical or the very End. There will be no in between.

bailey is back at kicker, and abdullah at rb

we also only have one guard on the roster, so that isn't ideal

kline seems like a solid guy, dependable anyway with the 46 straight starts and a veteran. both are good for this line even if he doesn't end up being great
