...not really, but its nice to see some life out of Tarvaris for once. Against a great passrush nonetheless. This is what the Vikings need from Tarvaris to succeed, quick decisions with his arm and legs, converting 3rd downs, and lots of help from the defense.

The 2 keys were no interceptions, and keeping the defense off balance with his running. I like to see him run, but he never does for some reason.

I'm afraid Tarvaris is going to improve just enough so we don't address the QB issue next season.

thats what I was thinking actually, I was looking at the RealGM mock draft and was looking at the QBs and rememberd "what am I thinking? we're not going QB"

If not TJ, then who?

I don't know but they need to look at drafting someone high, signing someone or making a trade. Options need to be explored.

Assume all options were available. Would you prefer to draft a Brohm, Ryan, or Woodson and start fresh? Sign a free agent like a Pennington or Warner as a stop gap? Or trade for a McNabb to teach TJ, who he already has admitted to speaking with on a regular basis?

Personally, I wouldn't mind leaving TJ as our option for the future. I would like us to try and get a veteran guy, and let him battle with TJ at training camp, and let the best man lead this team. If it's TJ, he can get more experience and have someone teach him along the way. If its the vet, TJ can sit back and learn, and our team might have a better chance of going somewhere in the near future.

I've been thinking of McNabb a lot, while a sleep, in the shower, when I'm making love to my GF, and I think he'd be the perfect mentor for young TJ, I'd trade a 3rd rounder for him, maybe a 3rd and a 5th.

The eagles were reportedly asking for three first round picks?...according to Yahoo Fantasy sports

Tarvaris is 5-2 as a starter and had a 140 QB rating last Sunday. I've been ready to give up on him twice this season, but maybe we're jumping to conclusions. The rest of the schedule is pretty easy, it should be an excellent proving ground. If we end up 8-8, I think there's got to be better use for our 1st next year than a QB, and better use of money than McNabb.

Isn't McNabb a free agent at the end of the year?

P.S. just because a starter has a good record...Trent Dilfer....doesn't mean they are any good. I would prefer we wait it out and see how he finishes the season healthy. If he still goes 10-12 for 120 yards (please), then I say we could use a good vet stop gap. Ala Warner or Pennington, or someone else, but I say we wait it out.

P.S. Chilly has an ego, he thinks he can turn his QB into a star. I wouldn't look towards us drafting a QB. I would guess WR or DE.

if McNabb is worth 3 1st rounders, then AJ Feeley must be worth 2 1sts and a 3rd

Unless Jackson impresses over the last 5 games, I'd probably draft one and maybe sign a stop gap on top of that. I'd prefer either Woodson or Ryan because I think we need a guy who can move around in the pocket, mainly because speed rushers blow by McKinnie like he's not there.
As a stopgap I'd like Pennington because he's smart and accurate, hopefully he'd pick up the offense quick. He could start for 2 years while Woodson/Ryan learned on the bench.

Alright, but you have to agree, neither Woodson nor Ryan is going to be more mobile than TJ. The guy shrugged off Michael Strahan like he was a little kid trying to give him a hug. TJ's biggest problem is decision making. His physical attributes are all there, he just doesn't always do the things you need out of your QB. Getting rid of the ball on time, making proper reads, throwing the ball away instead of trying to force situations. Which is why I feel we should give him more time to try and develop that. From what I've seen from him in interviews, he seems really smart and you can tell that he really wants to get better. Lets give him the chance and the tools (a veteran to help teach him) to do that.

On a side note, I want to use our first to trade with Arizona for Larry Fitzgerald. I really don't want another rookie WR. TJ or whoever else we bring, deserves a shot at being successful so I feel we need to give them the tools to do that. Only problem is I don't know if AZ will deal him or if they will just resign him. (He's is in for a big payday) I like the rest of our team. Our o-line has definitely been getting better as the year goes on. (Don't let the 31st in sacks allowed fool you. Our QB's hold on to the ball waaaay too long) On defense, I like our young guys pass rushing on the outside. I think a 1st on a DE would be a massive waste. Our LB's are solid. Our secondary probably could use a young safety, but I think we can pick someone up in the 2nd/3rd rounds. If we decide not to go QB in the first, I want a vet that can help this team now. Fitz or maybe even Chad Johnson (for a 2nd though).

I like T-Jack so I wouldn't be too disappointed if we rolled with him again next, I just don't think it's the best move for the organization. I really admire the way he's continued to improve, most QB's would have folded after the type of start he had.

I dunno, considering this is basically Jackson's rookie year I think he is progressing great. Which means we could spend our assets (picks/cap) on improving the positions around him, thus putting him in a situation for better success. There are a couple nice tackles in the draft and there are some nice vet DE's available. Doing those kind of things will make it easier for this team to succeed.

Of course, I am assuming Jackson has a decent remainder of the season without a lapse.

The idea of the 1st for Fitz is the best case scenario for many, including myself.

Jackson has improved alot but he's still nowhere near a legitimate NFL QB. Has he ever thrown for 200+ yards or 2 TD's in a game? Those aren't huge feats and he's accomplished neither.

2 TD's in the first half today, along with 10/13, 111 yards, and no mistakes. Oh, and 3 rushes for 22 yards.

Edit: 200 yards today, too. I don't see us drafting a QB unless Jackson takes a huge step backwards over the last few weeks of the season (unlikely given the ease of schedule, but who knows)

If Jackson keeps playing and improving like this, I'll be happy with him as our strting QB next season.

Same here. But I would still feel more comfortable if we got another solid veteran QB. TJ really has improved, but he still puts his body in the path of harm too often. And if he goes down I really, REALLY don't want to go back to either BB or Holcomb.

rev this is not baseball. Jackson is a second year player regardless of how many games he played last year.

Jackson has shown enough to be the starter next season. I don't care what people say about the bad teams we've played. Its not our fault our schedule was made that way. Its also not our fault Oakland, Detroit, SF, and Chicago are so bad.
