DeSean Jackson ran a 4.31 which is much faster than I thought he was. He also measured less than 5'10, I forget the exact measurements but it was like 5'9 and 3/4. He also only weighs 167lbs.

Devin Thomas, the kid from Michigan state looked good, he ran a 4.32. He's a legit 6'2, 215 guy so I think we should definitely take a look at him in the 2nd round if he's still there.

I don't think there is any WR worth taking #17 overall. If we end up drafting for a need at 17, I hope it goes DE, S, CB, TE.

I hope this is the year we finally take a chance and draft a guy who specializes in returning kicks. I always feel like we don't ever address that position. We just stick 2nd or 3rd string guys back there. Allison is decent but we need a game changer fielding punts and Bobby Wade is not that guy. Of course we never would have to even think about drafting a punt return guy if Brad Childress would take his head out of his ass and give Moore some PT. That's too late now as MeMo is probably going to leave us.

My understanding is that we are leaning towards Limas Sweed, but the idea is that we are going to go BPA in the 1st and then draft the best WR in the second. Being that this is a deep,deep class without much seperation I think that is a good idea.

Sweed is considered a "good kid", friends with Griffin, he is considered a Chad-Johnson over the middle type. But his 40 time was also much better than many thought.

There is no TE worth drafting in the 1st 2 rounds. This is the weakest TE draft in at least 5 years.

I expect us to make a run at a LT. Big Mac was inconsistant last year and with his contract and the run-in with the law I could see him cut or traded for something.

From my understanding we hope Phillips drops to us, but that changes if we sign Williams from Cin for our safety spot. DE is likely going to be a vet, unless one of the 2 man guys drops. Remember James and Udeze both dropped to us, but both of them battled injuries.

Looking at the 1st rd here is the names we need to remember(like I said before, pending FA action)

Kenny Phillips - FS - 6'1" 205 lbs. - Miami
Phillips is an athletic safety who is well developed skill-wise. He is ready for the NFL game.

-Ryan Clady,T OT - 6'5" 320 lbs. - Boise St
Clady is a nimble left tackle who is prepping for a strong Combine effort after a dominant WAC career. Should not slip past top-10, but you never know. An early entrant, Clady has perhaps the highest ceiling of any lineman in this draft, and he

Gholston 4.64 @ 266lbs is veryyy impressive and those 37 reps

gholston and harvey, don't do a lot for me, there's too much risk for them i think
if philips falls to us that would be great, or take the best tackle left
i'd be happy with sweed or kelly i really like both guys

Sweed 6'3 7/8 215 with a 4.46 I like him over kelly, but not close. Similar to what I hear, none of the WR's are seperating themselves, which is good for us in the second. Value-wise he is a 1st rd talent and if we do shore up the Safety and DE spots in FA I would like to grab him in the first.


Lawrence Jackson is a 2nd rd prospect. But I have seen some have him late 1st. He is a big, strong DE. I believe he is the 6th DE on the board behind Long, Gholston,Campbell, Harvey, and Merling. This is a weird class for me. Ghoston might be too small, and thus more of an outside backer in a 3-4, Campbell might be too big and thus easily stood up. I do not drink the Harvey juice because he is simply 1 dimensional and I feel we need a stud if we draft a DE. But people who know better than me love him top-10 style.

I would be cool with Jackson in the second if we went a different direction then De in the 1st.

i've seen a lot of mock drafts(most of realgm so i don't know how accurate they'd be) but they all have sweed, kelly, and deshaun jackson going in the first rd, do you think they will fall to the 2nd if none are seperating themselves from the pack

Drop the Kenny Phillips love, rev. Any other year he'd struggle to crack the 1st round, he's just inflated this year because it's an unusually weak safety class.

I'm hoping for Kelly, Jackson, or Sweed in the first round. Baring that, gotta hope for a DE.

I agree with the BPA approach with our first rounder. We could use help everywhere on our team, except maybe RB.

I think our 2nd rounder should be a WR if there is still a good one left. We should also sign a WR in FA.

Some people had McFadden running 4.27, and some had him running low 4.3s, 4.33 to be exact. A lot of people are comparing him to AD. I don't think its a good or fair comparison, they're both very different types of runners.

A DE at 17 would make me happy too. Gholston looks like a DeMarcus Ware type pass rusher.

Sweed ran 4.46 BTW.

My Best case scenario would be that we draft phillips or ghoston in the first and somehow Sweed drops to the second. Sweed is starting to gain seperation for me and I would almost be tempted to draft him in the first if we had a safety (williams) and de(smith?) in free agency. Ghoston has amazing athletic numbers, but people worry he cannot play a heavy-down DE. More of a 3-4 blitz guy (like Ware) so I am not sure if he would fit here.

4 guys mean we at least need 1 more guy, if not 2. Fergie is not for-sure coming back, but if he does he is not a starter. Allison is nice, but I do not see him as a starter. Wade is better as a slot then a starter. Ala we have a spot, and a need for a legit #1/2 I think an over the middle type like Sweed would be a good situation.

It will be an exciting draft for sure.

hopefully rice stays healthy this year and develops into a #1/2 wr for us, that first rounder is going to be interesting-so many ways we could go

i dont think gholston will be availible at 17, but i think we should take a look at derrick harvey
