this can get really awkward if TJ soundly outplays Favre in the preseason since Favre is guaranteed to be the starter no matter what

Unless they just brought in Favre to sell season tickets and light a fire under TJax, then cut him before the season starts so they don't have to pay him.

One of the talking heads was speculating that the TJ extended showcasing against 2nd and 3rd stringers was to up his trade cache - figuring he'd garner a 3rd or 4th instead of a 5th or 6th if he displayed solid capabilities as a team's #2.
Their obvious thought was Sage will stay as the #2 since he's seasoned as a backup and JDB #3 with TJ gone in the next two weeks (this was a few days ago). Should get interesting and awfully uncomfortable next week.
