1998 & 2009 most devastating years to be a Vikings fan

Post#1 » by Alymero » Mon Dec 7, 2009 11:04 am

Here I am, sticking my chest out being a proud Vikings fans each week believing that the dream can be ours when the unthinkable occurs!

I don't know about you, but I believe one of those Bayou Voo-Doo Witch doctors in New Orleans has it in for us, because the Cards game defies logic and unraveled everything we've been working toward giving the Saints a seemingly easier path to the Super Bowl.

Is this the overreaction thread? If this season unravels now, it still falls well behind 1998 and probably 2003 with regards to devastation.

Maybe I am over-reacting...so instead of making my defeatest remarks, I'll keep quiet until the Vikings season officially ends then weigh it accordingly in comparison to 1998 & 2003. Anyway, they say God works in mysterous ways, and there's nothing more mysterous about what to expect from here on out for the Vikings positive or negative.

This lowers expectations which will make any future playoff loss less painful. The worst part about '98 is that I was so sure we were going to steamroll Atlanta. I won't be expecting that this year.

Cards simply aren't that good even when clicking on all cylinders, so it defied logic since everybody had us winning easily.

You must be about 16-17 years old dude

- yes 98 was tough, I'd put it 3rd, but I couldn't eat for a week after losing to the Cowboys in 75 or losing in the Superbowl to Oakland closing out the 76 season. Those teams were BUILT to win multiple Superbowls and never played a great game when they had to.

Most devastating: Naaaa.

Just ask Carolina about the Arizona putting together a great game for one week... better to get this out of the way now and when there is a rematch in the 2nd round of the playoffs, in Minnesota, all of the Cards (so to speak) are already on the table!! Payback's a bitch.

Better to play like crap now than in the playoffs. Injuries and not being able to run are very concerning, but they've got time to fix the problems and heal the injuries..
