wow Cubs still stink
Spent all that money, but couldn't beat the bottom dweller Astros. astros came into wrigley, I believe was 1-5 and wins the first 2 games of the homestand. Man, this is going to be a long season yet again.

It's not that we are losing....we are blowing games late and not hitting well.
I just hope when summer comes it will heat us up.

With warmer weather will come better play, book it.
As an optimistic Cubs fan you, there are plenty of positives to look to;
*Aramis Ramirez: a notorious "slow-starter," Aramis has been looking real good to start the year. .406 BA, 5 RBI, 1 HR. Solid defensively, and he's even looked good running the bases.
*Derrek Lee: for all intensive purposes, Lee didn't really play last year. He got injured early, sat out for most of the year, made an attempt at returning, but simply was not effective. He admitted that his wrist wasn't all the way there nor was his confidence. I wasn't sure what to expect from him coming into this season, but so far we've gotten the same Gold Glove-winning D-Lee at first, hitting .424 while knocking in 4 runs and scoring another 4.
*Mark DeRosa: .286 BA, 2 HR, 7 RBIs. Yeah, we all saw that coming, right?
*Cliff Floyd: he's looked healthy at the plate, and has been hitting the ball pretty damn hard. .313 BA, 2 RBIs. I'll take it from our platooning LF'er.
*Ted Lilly, 2 starts, 1 win, 2.77 ERA, 14 SO, 4 ER in 13 innings of work. I had faith coming into this season that people would stop making such a fuss about the contract Lilly got; yes, he was probably overpaid, but the Cubs had to in order to get him. So far, so good.
What I find really promising about the offense so far is that they aren't striking out a TON (53 SO/280 ABs), and that they've scored 31 runs, but only hit 4 HRs. Scratching together runs has historically been a problem, with the Cubs relying on the long ball too much to get runs home. Now, they're scoring runs without the benefit on the long ball AND you know that the big 3 (Soriano/Lee/Ramirez) will likely have 30+ HRs each come season's end. Figure another ~20 for Barrett, 10-15 for DeRosa, and 40+ combined from the corners (Murton/Floyd/Jones), and what we have right now is an offense that hasn't even begun to show what its capable of, but has shown that it can string together base hits to move runners along.
Now the bullpen has sucked, no question. Starting pitching is still a bit up in the air. But Rich Hill has looked as advertised (1-0, 1.29 ERA), and poor pitching isn't really unexpected to begin a season. Nonetheless, the Cubs staff has the 3rd best BAA (.225), and the 4th most strikeouts (56). Team ERA is at 4.30 (Eyre, 15.00 | Miller, 13.50 | Howry, 7.36), and really, this offense has enough punch to score 4+ runs per game, not to mention the fact that the ERA *should* go down as the season progresses. For as much as you have to factor in players getting reacquainted to playing again, you have to factor in the umps getting reacquainted with officiating again. I think you guys know what I'm talking about; Cubs have gotten the ass-end of a few funny calls both on the base paths and behind home plate already in just 8 games.
C'monnnn warm weather.

Cubs fans are always on a short leash.
