Icness reports he's going to be released.

With the news about LJ being released, lets talk about the RB situation:

In the game thread last week Icness and CC talked about the RB position for the pats and Icness commented

Icness wrote:

With Taylor injured for a while, I think the pats should get Larry Johnson. I know the team has a lot of RBs who they can plug in produce good yardage, but I feel there is a difference between those type of RBs and the ones that teams really have to game plan against because of how talented they are.

I'm not saying LJ is still that type of player, but why not find out and see if he still has it?

He's only 29 years old. I know he's not been very good this year, but maybe if he gets in the right situation with a more talented team, he can be more productive. Sort of like Cedric Benson to a lesser extent.

Certainly Pats fans remember picking up once called "over the hill" and "finished" running backs like Corey Dillon and you know what happened there.

what do you guys think?

I'm all on board, that is if the pats have the money. Maroney just isn't doing it, and I've liked LJ since his penn state days.

Well I'd like to see him in NE, but from the looks of it Icness was wrong, he's just suspended until November something.

FWIW

Some have speculated that the Patriots would sign him. One league source has predicted to us, however, that coach Bill Belichick would not be interested.

NE, Philly, Arizona, Cleveland, and Chicago are the only teams I see being interested. It makes more sense for NE. LJ still is a good RB, he just got plagued with the worst oline in the NFL and he's a type of RB that needs a decent line atleast cuz he's not fast enough to get away from instant pressure.
