Jets and Pats. Battle for first.

Post#1 » by Celtics_Champs » Thu Dec 2, 2010 12:19 am

Regular Season Record: 9-2

Image

New York Jets vs New England Patriots.
Monday December 6th. 8:30 PM.
TV: ESPN. Radio: 98.5 Sports Hub.

Just under a week away it feels like this one was being looked at more than a month ago. It's the regular season game of the year in my mind. Two of the best teams in the NFL facing off for the lead in the AFC east, and AFC altogether. Rivals too. I'm pretty confident that the pats can get this one. BB has had more than 10 days to prepare, this team is just clicking, and it's on our home turf.

Go Pats!!!

We pretty much lock up the division barring some letdowns if we win this. One of the biggest regular season games this team has played in the last half of the past decade.

My prediction is a surprisingly lower scoring game than many expect with each time running and trying to control the clock and playing the field position game.

Patriots 16, Jets 14

I think the Patriots are a much better team then when these two played week 2. I give the Pats the edge cause of home field advantage but wouldn't be surprised if it went either way. That said, Go Pats!

I don't know what is going on but Mark Sanchez just through a pick to me in my living room.

Couldn't happen to a better bunch of guys.

Alright!

-Brady deserves more MVP mention.
-Good for Woodhead to get back against the team who cut him. Over 100 all purpose yards, and one great run that had me jumping. Great play call which leads to my next point.
-I'm sorry for taking shots at Bill O'Brien in the past. Sometimes his play calls make me scratch my head, but obviously this guy knows what he is doing.
-McCourty is awesome. True.
-Great pick by spikes in the red zone.
-Just all around great defense against the jets tonight.

I mean, no one expected that. I heard some people be confident, and I heard some people say we'll win by a touchdown, maybe two. But 45-3, wow. This team is on a friggen role right now.

45 to 3

One of the biggest regular season wins in franchise history. Brady is League MVP, not even a close race anymore.

Complete dismantling of the Jets never felt so good. Sanchez and Ryan looked shell-shocked the whole game. So much for all the stupid trash-talking. Rex looked almost about to cry. Was more surprised by Patriots D, then their O. My swing play of the game was Brandon SPikes interception. It came at a time when the Pats D was in the mode of "here we go again" letting a team march down the field and the lead seemed like it was being challenged like the Indy game. I had been hard on Spikes all year but that play really meant a lot. Good for him.

Nonetheless we KILLED them in ever aspect of the game:
Offense, Defense, kicking, punting, you name it. Embarrasing for the Jets.

I hate to say it with 4 games left, but I think we have the division locked up. Sanchez can't play in the cold:

Jets next 4 games = In NY against Miami, AT Pittsburgh, AT Chicago, then in NY against Buffalo. I see them going 2-2 at best, would not surprise me to see them 0-4

I think are biggest challenges are @ Chicaco next week, and @ Buffalo. It has nothing to do with the cold of buffalo, they almost beat Pittsburgh and have played other teams tough. Plus if we go 3-0 till that point, I wouldn't be surprised to see them let down since they're young.

I hope we go 4-0 though.

Aren't we playing the Packers in a couple of weeks? They could potentially beat us. I say we win the Miami, Buffalo, and Chi games and lose to the Packers. 13-3, damn if it happens that is alot better than what I projected our record to be (9-7)

I always thought we'd win 10 games. Maybe 11. Lot of naysayers before the season said we were gonna be 9-7 or 8-8 and were all picking Jets to win the division. I'm happy they were all wrong and Pats look poised to go 13-3 or 12-4 (maybe even 14-2). Honestly the Jets surprised me a bit, but I think I was right about them anyway. They will not be a factor come playoffs. I had them at 9-7 and actually had Miami a bit better at 10-6. Looks like I was wrong in both counts, but we'll see.

I think the Bears or Packers could beat us. I think the Packers have a better shot because they match up better against us IMO. They don't have the most balance on offense, but they are a team that knows what they do well and they do it. If it wasn't for Ryan Grant going down I think they would be in discussion of the league's top team right now. Unlike the Jets, they have a QB who can throw the ball downfield with confidence. They know they can't run it that well right now, and I bet when we play them they will stick to doing what they do best. Throwing it. I think that's where the Jets ran into trouble against us. They saw "worst pass defense in teh league" and they came out to START THE GAME in a spread offense hoping to throw the ball. Killed them. You gotta play to your strengths. NY didn't and they got murdered.

Regardless I still think we can beat Green Bay because we're at home but it should be a great game. I don't think Chicago is as good of a football team, but it's on the road and the Bears are hot and we have a shorter week. I can see us losing.
