Now that Tom's deal is done does Moss get one too?

Brady is signed and done before the money gets real stupid which is always nice. Now the question of Moss comes up. The media loves to kill Randy, the chip on his shoulder makes him an easy target. But the reality is that he is a HOF receiver that is the absolute key to the Patriot offense. It is '03-'04 anymore and if you can't make defenses play the run as well as stretch the field they just snuff out the underneath dink and dunk now.

I am not worried about Moss tanking it if he doesn't get his money, as he has to perform to get paid anywhere. That said Moss has played when he was less than 100% and in some cases probably a lot less. He is old for a WR and If they plan on moving beyond him then it will just be another uncomfortable situation in a season full of them already. But if they plan on keeping Randy after this year then why not send the message that the key to getting a deal done in NE is showing the hell up to work. Sure Randy is a little petulant but so is Belichick, you can be pissed about your contract, Brady was, and while more media savy than perhaps anyone in sports, he let it be known he wasn't happy in the media. Vince was mad, he came to work, he got paid, so did Brady, Moss came to work. While he doesn't have quite the leverage that Revis or perhaps even Vincent Jackson, he has as much Logan Mankins, in that his absence really hurts the team.

I am not saying bend over backwards for him but if he you can get a deal done, it is just as important to show how you get a deal done in NE as it is to hold your ground about how not to.

I'd like to see him get a 2 or 3 year contract. With Moss not being named a team captain it's got me wondering what is going to happen tho.

Michael Floyd. But yeah, Moss should get a 2 to 3 year deal. I am more concerned about Mankins, the thing fell through because of wanting him to make a public apology? Stupid.

Worse than that is now you know why Randy is pissed, your going to deal with this guy Mankins who was calling Belichick and Craft liars and saying he never wanted to play for the team again.

Personally I say screw Mankins at this point, he is a good player but he isn't the guy to stoop to this for. If someone wants to kick in a first for him then trade him if not I wouldn't even play him the last 6 games. Hope for more day like today and he won't be missed.

Randy is an interesting person with special needs from the team and I kind of think the patriots are doing him wrong. I think Randy was such a good soilder, so good for the team, a leader and probably the smartest player on the offense and I hardly hear any really glowing comments from the team's management. I would think after all these years of helping Tom really grow and leading the offense through the Cassell days the team would at least reach out to Randy and say, "hey, you've helped us. We're going to take care of you".

It sucks because I think Randy really wants to stay in New England. I think he would absolutely love to finish out his career on such a great note here compared to the rest of his career. I just think Randy deserves to be treated better than just a regular receiver and they should at least keep avenues open and offer him something. He wants and deserves to be treated with similar respect to Tom. It'd be a shame to lose such a good player that wants to be here just because management was too rigid and high brow.

One more thing, guys. Watch Randy Moss play. You might not see him, or a receiver like him ever again in a Patriot uniform (or even the nfl). watch how he runs, how he uses his speed, how he disects plays, how he catches the ball and how he is always in synch with Tom Brady. It's a beautiful thing to watch and we should really be enjoying it while we have it cos we shouldn't take it for granted.
