Green Bay Packers vs New England Patriots.
Sunday December 19th. 8:20 PM.
TV: NBC. Radio: 98.5 Sports Hub.

Kind of a douchey pun, since concussions are no laughing matter, but that's the story of the game. If Rodgers plays, this game is a good one. If he doesn't, this game is a wash. We'll find out Saturday.

Well we found out. He's out. It's expected to snow sunday, though it could move out to sea.

Go Pats!!!

Hope Rodgers is out, then this should be an easy win.

I don't care if it's 45-3 or 2-0. Just win baby.

Rodgers isn't doing anything this week, no team meetings or anything so even if he plays, he probably won't be any good.

Flynn is likely to start either way so it should be an easy win for you guys.

Yeah, the sad thing is even with all the injuries, we've been in every game we lost.

We lost by 3 to the Bears even though we had 18 penalties including some of the most ridiculously tick tack pass interference calls I've ever seen. Still had the ball with the game tied and under 3 minutes left before James Jones fumbled and the Bears recovered.

Then instead of letting the Bears score a TD when they got inside the 10 to save us a some time to get the ball back and try to score a TD, they tackle the inside the 5 and then at the 1, wasting all of our timeouts and letting the Bears run the clock all the way down so the offense doesn't even get a chance to get the ball back.

Then we lost to the Redskins after our kicker kicked a field goal off the goal post at the end of regulation, we lost by a FG in overtime.

Then the refs hand the Dolphins 7 points to give them a 7 point lead on an awful call where they say a Packer was lined up less than a yard from the snapper even though it was pretty clear he was over a yard away. They call a penalty, penalty gives the Dolphins a 1st down and they score on that drive. Packers come down and score a TD to tie the game with under 20 seconds left but we lose again in overtime.

Here's a picture of the penalty where they say the guy was lined up less than a yard away from the long snapper.

Then we lost by 3 on the road against the Falcons, we tied it up with less than a minute left but one of our guys on the kickoff had to grab the returners facemask or he would've been gone for a TD, so the Falcons got the ball at the 50, drove about 17 yards and kicked the game winning FG.

Then last week, the worst loss of all to the Lions. Rodgers goes out in the 2nd quarter, defense plays great until they give up a TD in the 4th quarter. Packers finally start moving the ball on their last drive as the hurry up offense starts tiring out their defense. McCarthy inexplicably calls a timeout on a 2nd and 1 from the Lions 30 to call a handoff to Brandon Jackson. He's our worst RB and our running game as a whole is awful, especially against good front 4s like the Lions have. So that run goes nowhere, Flynn throws an awful pass on 3rd down and then on 4th and 1 from the Lions 30 they take a shot at the endzone and fail. Game over.

That doesn't even include Andrew Quarless fumbling in Lions territory in the 1st quarter or Greg Jennings having a beautfully thrown ball land in his hands for what would've been a TD only to have it bounce off his hands, then off his helmet and into the hands of a Lions defender. The game was just ridiculous all around.

We also had 10 players and 5 starters go on injured reserve before November, so to be where we are in the standings right now is amazing in and of itself. But with so many close losses it's tough to look at our record and say we couldn't have overcome the injuries to easily be in the playoffs right now.

Now we get an epic matchup of Dumbass vs Genius. Mike McCarthy vs Bill Belichick.

I'd wager a significant amount of money that the Packers vs Patriots game is third on the minds of Packers fans right now. It is for me, if the Giants beat the Eagles and the Bears beat the Vikings then that puts a huge dent in our playoff chances. Beating you guys would help that but with Flynn likely starting and McCarthy trying to out smart Belichick, we're being realistic about that. :)

To me, Green Bay always struck me as one of the most talented teams in the league last couple years but couldn't win big games because of penalties and playcalling. (Although granted injuries are a large part of GB's problems this year) Seems like the coach is the problem to me I don't know why McCarthy is still there. I think Bill Cowher would be a good fit for you guys.

The problem is Cowher wants total control and Thompson has done a good job.

I was rooting for ya'll last week against the lions because I knew the circumstances, we beat the bears and helped, you just needed to beat the lions. Then whoever called it, but damn, that 4th and 1 was such an awful play call.

All this GB nuthugging on my end better not jinx the pats this Sunday though.

*knocks on wood, aka Mike McCarthy's head.*

Lmao at your avatar CC, and Flynn is 'expected' to start. I think he is a decent backup, but this should be a win no problem.

I can't get over that. Wow.

Okay, so the back up qb's are the ones who are kicking our asses. First Colt McCoy, sure he didn't have the best game, but he was good against us. Now Matt Flynn.

-Brady needs to get protection. He's getting creamed back there.
-Good running, go back to it.

I mean, I'm optomistic in the 2nd half because of Dan Connolly. Lets be honest without that and a 3 and out happens the air is taken out of the stadium. We need a stop coming out of the half, and never look back. Go Pats!!!

YES!

Phew.

Tough win against a great defense and a surprise good performance by a back up QB.

-Brady didn't have a stat line that made your eyes pop, but still solid, 2 TD's no picks. But most importantly he got it done when it was needed. That throw to branch was beautiful.
-BJGE with a great run in the first, and than woodhead towards the end really stepped up.
-Aaron Hernandez with 2 TD's, so much for the flu ;)
-Kyle Arrington was great. McCourty might have given up a long TD (not his fault coughmeriweathercough), but he had a good game, nice sack to add to his stat line.
-The other guys, Rob Ninkovich and Dane Fletcher played good today. That fletcher sack was huge.
-And of course, Connolly. See my jubilation in the last two post of this thread.

Not pretty. Judging by BB's post game press conference, he's not extremely happy with the way they played, but heck, a win is a win, and we made the stops when we needed it, and still put up 31 against the toughest D going.

One step closer to clinching home-field throughout.

The only thing better than seeing Connolly do that would be Wilfork doing that.
Or winning the Superbowl of course.

I think the front office is the problem in Green Bay they seem to have gone with more of a Colts roster model were you pay your starters and then fill in with the draft but they always seem to way too thin at spots and have too much at others. I don't know what kind of roster control McCarthy has but that offensive line has been thin and terrible for years, but they always have 10 wide recievers.\

Interesting comment for Dale Arnold (as common as a linemen running one back for 70 yards) he said that the flag on McCourty's helmet to helmet came from an official who was watching the replay on the jumbotron.

Admirable job by the Packers and more specifically Matt Flynn. With that game out, I don't think we lose to Miami or Buffalo, even though they may be close games. 14-2 sounds pretty sweet, hope it happens.
