NFL Conferences Round. Scouting Patriots possible opponents.

Post#1 » by Celtics_Champs » Mon Jan 2, 2012 5:00 am

The NFL playoff schedule is set, the Patriots will play on Saturday January 14th at 8:00 PM against the lowest seed remaining in Gillette Stadium.

Wild Card Round
------
Saturday, Jan. 7
AFC: No. 6 Cincinnati Bengals (9-7) at No. 3 Houston Texans (10-6), 4:30 p.m. ET (NBC)
NFC: No. 6 Detroit Lions (10-6) at No. 3 New Orleans Saints (13-3), 8 p.m. ET (NBC)

Sunday, Jan. 8
NFC: No. 5 Atlanta Falcons (10-6) at New York Giants (9-7), 1 p.m. ET (FOX)
AFC: No. 5 Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4) at No. 4 Denver Broncos (8-8), 4:30 p.m. ET (CBS)
------

Hmmm. This is gonna be tough. I want to face Cincinnati. Let Pittsburgh win and them and Baltimore can beat the crap out of each other. I think Houston even with a 4th string QB can top Cincinnati. Which would leave us with the winner of Pittsburgh and Denver. No way Denver wins in my mind either. So it looks like our opponent is going to be Pittsburgh. Well as ric flair sais, to be the man you have to beat the man. And the man of the AFC these past couple years have been Pittsburgh.

Should be fun as always, who do you guys hope to face in the divisional round?

------
Well if anyone is cocky, and are still scouting who the patriots could play, here is the lineup for the divisional round. We would either play Houston or Baltimore. Down the line if you're that cocky, san fran, nyg, no or gb...

Divisional Round
------------
Saturday Jan 14th.
No. 4 Denver (8-8) at No. 1 New England (13-3), 8 ET (CBS)
No. 3 Houston (10-6) at No. 2 Baltimore (12-4), 1 ET (CBS)

Sunday Jan 15th.
No. 3 New Orleans (13-3) at No. 2 San Francisco (13-3), 4:30 ET (FOX)
No. 4 New York Giants (9-7) at No. 1 Green Bay (15-1), 4:30 ET (FOX)
------------

Conference Championship Round
-------------
Sunday Jan 22nd.
No. 2 Baltimore (12-4) at No. 1 New England (13-3), 3 p.m. ET (CBS)
No. 4 New York Giants (9-7) at No. 2 San Francisco (13-3), 6:30 p.m. ET (FOX)
-------------

The good thing about this is we get to watch the pats first, and if they win, we can scout the NYG and San Fran game happy as we puff on those cigars and throw down the beer.

So now who ya want if they make it?

Pitt will probably beat Denver even with their injuries.
The best case scenario for us is Cincy beating Houston however, so I will be rooting for them this weekend.
I would much rather not see the Steelers and have them go against Baltimore, because they will be the team that upsets out of the AFC.

Yeah. Are you saying you want both Cincy and Pitt to win? Cause I agree with that. We face Cincy then Pitt and Baltimore knock the stuffing out of each other

I see TV stations like NESN and CSN saying we're hoping for both Denver and Cincy to win. Erm no. Yeah, go Cincy, you're the easiest matchup, but let's say Denver beats Pittsburgh on one of those Tebow like miracle wins. They'll go into Baltimore and it'll be no contest. Why we would probably be playing a tough game against cincy. Baltimore would be fresher. While if it's Pittsburgh and Baltimore, they just get so up to face each other its ridiculous. I predict four concussions and a Ben Roethisberger broken ankle if that match-up were to happen. Better for us.

100% best case scenario for us. Hope it happens.

Cincy lost. Hopefully Denver can win or at least tire pittsburgh out...

We should at least not be one and done this year, unless Tebow get some help from above two weeks in a row. Great game! Just hope our guys do take them lightly.

Aww man, let's hope the Media hypes up Denver all week. Not liking our chances if they make it look like we are gonna blow them out.

Already hyping them up just because of the one play OT TD pass! Hopefully Dummerville doesn't get another shot on Brady like the last one...so Brady can pick them apart, just remembered we were losing that game early on as well and it was due to them shooting themselves in the foot with TO's and Brady's magnificence that allowed us to win. Our D needs to at least make a couple of stops, this time around!

I missed the game yesterday, but i can't be more happy with the turnout. pats destroyed denver by 41 points a couple of weeks ago. If the o-line can protect Brady from Denvers defense, it will be an easy win.

Pats vs. Baltimore scares me though. Pats vs. Houston however sounds great. We can beat Houston, but I don't expect them to do anything against the Baltimore defense.

I hear you on Baltimore! Might be getting ahead of myself thinking about the SB, but I'm hoping for others to knock out the Saints, who look just as lethal on offense, which would not bode well for our lowly ranked D, and the Giants, who always seem to have our number. Here's hoping our defense turns it around a la Indianapolis in 05!

Had to double check, they're putting both conference games on the same day. I don't like that.

Are they?

I got New Orleans Vs. San Fran at 4:30 and then NE vs. Denver at 8:00.

I double checked my original post. That's where I went wrong.

Anyway, perfect. That or GB was the game I was looking forward too.

Skip Bayless on first take just changed his pick from the Patriots to Denver.

Kind of expected that though. He wants Tebows balls bronzed on his mantle above his fire place.

Baltimore beat Houston in a struggle. I said I didn't want this team, I still don't want to face this team. But TJ Yates threw 3 picks against baltimore, basically giving them this game with that Ed Reed toss-up, and they still only won by a touchdown. I feel confident the pats may be able to get it done at home against Baltimore.

-----
and for those who are still scouting, the Giants and Niners are going to play for the conference championship. Giants upset the Packers at home. I don't really want to pick this game, but if the patriots do get back to the SB, these are both fun, but tough match-ups to go against. It's either Brady vs Eli in the SB part II, or Brady vs his home town team.

Return to New England Patriots
