It is making me crazy to hear the NYC media hype suggesting Eli is not only playing better than Brady.... but that he is actually better.

I have heard a million times about Brady 0-3 last 3 playoff games before this year. How if it weren't for STerling Moore he would be 1-4. How badly he played against Baltimore and how great Manning played against San Fran.

I won't deny that Eli is having a great year and a great post season up to a point. But here is my reality check.

1. Did you know Eli also had not won a playoff game since 2007? 11-1 start in 2008 then lost 3 of last 4 games and first round exit. Many of us predicted a new dynasty after 2007 upset of Patriots. What happened?

2. Last 2 years Giants didn't make the playoffs, mainly because of late season collapses. This year they finished 3-5 and were lucky..... REAL LUCKY.... to make the playoffs. Tom Brady finished season 8-0.

3. Last season Manning threw 25 .... yes 25 interceptions. Brady had 4.

4. Last week against Baltimore the Patriots had 5 drives into red zone against best defense in AFC. 3 ended in FG's and many drives stalled because Brady missed wide open receivers with uncharacteristic poor accuracy. Yes Brady had a bad game for him..... but he drove the team to red zone 5 times! It could have been 35 points instead of 23 despite his bad game.

5. Last week against 49ers Manning had game gift wrapped to him thanks to Kyle Williams poor punt returning and still game went to overtime. Yes he was tough getting hit 20+ times but he was like 30-59.

I really like Eli. I think he is a competitor who beats his brother at just about everything.....except quarterbacking. Given the amazing defensive line, the quality running game and quality receivers..... I think we should expect more than a 3-5 finish and backing into the playoffs before annointing him the greatest in the game. Have HOF standards fallen so low?

I didn't know people were actually talking about this yet. Yikes. I expected some talk if Eli beats us again in the SB, but starting already? lol please. Everything you said was right on sam.

As of right now (like currently in the NFL), Eli is definitely better than Brady.

Didn't even read the OP, pretty long and it doesn't need to be.

Don't over think it or let the NY fans get to you.

5 super bowls to Eli's 2. 3 rings to Eli's 2. The only thing that is sure is that the Giants know how to beat the Pats as a team. Eli had a great post season, but he is streaky. He is an elite quarterback, but not better than Tom.

I'm a believer that had Gronk been healthy, that game would have looked very different, but it is what it is. If Welker, Branch, and Hernandez made those catches they needed to make during that 5 minute to go drive, the game would have been different.

Talking about right now, QB to QB performance. Eli is better and I believe he will have a better year next year than Brady like he did this year.

Legacy wise, of course Brady is the better QB. They are only 1 Super Bowl apart though, which can change in the next few years.

Giants had injures too. Both Giants TEs injured during the game as well. Bear Pascoe was the only TE for the rest of the game. And that holding call on the Giants changed the whole game (when they were up 10-0), so do not give me the dropped passes argument. Both teams had mistakes that turned the game into different directions.

Eli wasn't better than Brady this year.

Put Tom Brady on the giants and they may have had a chance to go undefeated. Eli played great, an backed his elite talk up. But Brady is still better.

He just can't get over the giants hump. Schefter pointed it out today, in 07 an 11 combinbed Brady is 0-3 against the giants, 33-2 against everyone else.

Yeah just glancing over the stats, Eli was more clutch down the wire, but Brady blows him away in everything else.

I know it's the superbowl and it's the most important game, but we can't just throw away everything else. In 03 when Brady completed 2 out of three we were calling him better than Peyton here and we were getting blasted. What changes here?

That's clear. Brady would have picked apart our defense. 38-13 or something.

All right, maybe I over did it by saying Eli was better than Brady this year. I am not going to lie, I am biased towards my favorite QB.

I would not say Giants would have been undefeated or even close to undefeated with Brady as their QB. Giants had way to many injuries this season, hence their mediocre season record. They literally had no line backers and Osi and Tuck were out in the beginning (several other key injuries as well).
-Few of the losses were on the defense this year.

Their receiving core was not predicted to be the way it turned out. They signed Stokley in the beginning of the season, because they were not confident with their receivers. Have to Eli some credit for the Giants receiver's success. Victor Cruz worked hard of course, not taking anything away from him. Eli was able to make Bear Pascoe look like a legit TE receiver and even Ballard. Ballard is close to 300 pounds and Eli can throw a 40+ pass to him with precision, while he is running at a jogging pace.
-Eli Manning has this chemistry with his receivers, that I hardly see on any other team.

Not going to argue about Eli having a horrible offensive line, because the Patriots had the same issue.

QB to QB, using stat comparisons, yes Brady was better this season (Eli technically had the better overall post season, but he got to play one extra game). I just think with a QB like Brady, he is always going to better on the stat card against most QBs. He plays more safe and throws to his tight ends more than anybody (not that there is anything wrong with that). While Eli, will risk throwing it down the field for the big play, and he is pretty damn good at it. And being the most clutch QB will never reflect on that stat card.
-Eli had his receivers drop several catches this season, just glad it did not happen in the postseason.

Only thing I am going to add to this.

Congrats on the Giants win, but it doesn't change QB standings, and both teams will still be around next season, neither player is done yet. We will see when all is said and done, but I would put money on Eli never being better than Tom.

If Brady bring the Pats back to the super bowl again, for a 6th time, I don't think this conversation really needs to happen again.
