Lower than other receivers, but they want to be stingy I understand.

I love the move.

Welker and Lloyd are a terrific duo.

Lloyd's career-long track record is less than stellar but he's a good pickup for what they're asking him to do. I wouldn't have objected to going after Mike Wallace but that would have required a first rounder from Bill's army of draft picks and enough of a cap hit to require some tough decisions down the road (even with Lloyd on an affordable deal it's still going to be tough to keep all three of Welker, Gronk, and Hernandez over the long haul).

I tend to like this pick up. He's the right age and has racked up some nice numbers past two seasons. Nothing too impressive last season but he played a partial season for a team with an iffy passing offense. Not to mention his best season came while playing for McDaniels.

He also has a total of 4 fumbles throughout his career, one fumble per about every 1,200 receiving yards. I'm not sure how relevant that is, but by comparison when we signed Reche Caldwell, he had one fumble per every 240 yards or so.

It was a typical Belichick value move, and I am sure that the quality of the Patriot organization, and McDaniels' presence made a big difference too.

A very underrated aspect of the Patriots is that they are often able to pay guys less than they are worth, because the player wants to come here. Some dudes are strictly mercenary, and will go to whoever is the highest bidder, but many guys are willing to come to New England on a discount.

I think that has made a big difference to the team over the years, and has allowed them to get some guys they otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford.

Bears fan here. I've always been a fan of Brandon Lloyd. In 2009 he had a game against the Lions where he had +130 yards, and then he got injured. I had a chance to meet him and he was a really cool dude. I was sad to see him leave but he's done well with other teams. The only downside is that he always seemed more interested in his music career and promoting his image than playing football.
