The New England Patriots made a series of roster moves in anticipation of tomorrow’s mandatory NFL cut-down to a 75-man roster.

The Patriots announced that they have re-signed rookies CB Stephon Morris and DL Scott Vallone. Morris was originally signed by the Patriots on May 3, 2013, and released on Aug, 1, 2013. Vallone was originally signed by the Patriots on Aug. 1, 2013 and released on Aug. 19, 2013.

Additionally, the Patriots released first-year WR Kamar Aiken, rookie CB Brandon Jones, nine-year veteran LB Niko Koutouvides, second-year CB LeQuan Lewis and rookie LS Mike Zupancic.

The Patriots also placed rookie DL Cory Grissom and second-year T Markus Zusevics on injured reserve, and placed first-year DL Armond Armstead and rookie WR Mark Harrison on the reserve/non-football injury list.

Ras-I Dowling got cut. It's too bad he has some talent, but he can't stay healthy.

Very surprised at the Francis cut. I loved the guys motor and he seem to have a knack for putting some pressure on the QB. I'd like to see Sims and Winn get back to the practice squad.

Right now I believe the roster is at 51, so we might see two new guys or two cut guys coming back. Right now I would expect to see DT for sure coming in.

Leon Washington now cut. It's as if the patriots didn't really have an off-season, just lost a whole bunch of people.

I'm still excited for this team though. They got younger at WR, and gronks looking better.

Marquis Cole just got cut, a bit surprised on that move as a thought he was a good special teams player.

So far the team has claimed;
Linebacker from the Lions Chris White
Guard Chris Baker who was an undrafted rookie from the Dolphins.
Center Braxton Cave who was an undrafted rookie from the Browns.
Defensive tackle AJ Francis who was an undrafted rookie from the Dolphins.

The Pats have resigned Ja'Gared Davis, Kanorris Davis, Justin Green, Marcus Fortson, and Jeff Tarpinian to the practice squad.

Seriously. Look at the damn secondary! Can already tell I'm going to be bitching about that the whole season again.

Cole is back. looks like we just kept kline on the 53 until we could claim Cave and Barker-although I doubt they both stick. I bet some combination of Kline, Barker, Cave end up on the PS to enroll in Dante's school.

I am probably delusional, but I am holding out hope that Dowling gets healthy and eventually ends up back on the roster by the end of the year. I still think he is very talented.

I think this secondary can be quite a bit better than last year IF:

1. Dennard does not miss any time.
2. the entire secondary is improved (as I think it will be) by having McCourty at S all year.
3. Harmon can take Gregory's spot by mid year. I am probably in the minority- but I think Gregory just flat out sucks.
4. T Wilson can effectively play a coverage lb type roll in our dime package ( like A Wilson was trying to do, and failing at in the PS).
5. Chandler Jones make the second year leap that we are hoping and praying for. Most sure fire way for a secondary to improve- an effective pass rush.

Ballard looked like a cripple. He probably needs another year off to rehab. I thought the Fells cut was more surprising- I am hoping he is back week 2 and his cut is purely a money move (avoiding the guaranteed contract).

Total BB move there.

James Develin got cut today as well. Kind of surprised to see this move as I thought they would end up using the fullback this year. I wonder if we see the Pats bring in a te as there are only two active on the roster (not counting Gronk).

And Develin is back with the team. I think BB just gets bored.

And Leon Washington is back with the team. I'm assuming he'll be the KR although I really did want to see Blount do it.

aj francis waived and kline promoted to the 53. Very strange- we are down to 3 real DTs for tomorrow.

Francis had a great preseason- I thought we were lucky to get him. I also have nothing positive to say about kline's play in the preseason- so overall this is pretty surprising.

Do you guys think we will go to a lot of undersized DTs tomorrow (our version of the "Nascar" package. Last year we used Cunningham in this role often. Since he is gone- i am not sure who would replace him- maybe Hightower b/c he was used in this role at times in college).
