I had the upmost confidence that year going into the AFC game, won't be making that mistake again.

It's going to take everything we have and we really need our run defense to show up out of nowhere.

We'll need Alan Branch to have a throwback game, and David Harrison will have to for one game step up and fill in the hole left by Hightower.

This will be anything but easy.

That Broncos team though had Peyton Manning and a defense that would never give up 42 points. And this game is in Foxboro. And don't forget how bad the Jags offense looked vs. the Bills the week before to make yourself feel better.

The ONLY thing that makes me a tad nervous about this game is Tom Coughlin is on the Jaguars and as we know he coached both Giants teams that beat the Patriots. I can be kind weird about this stuff with football........

But at least this time around Coughlin isn't coaching and a Manning isn't the QB.

I don't truly know what to expect though........I used to think with the Patriots they just had the occasional bump against "A Manning". So we'll see this weekend. It should be tougher than this Titans game was and it's expected.

That Peyton Manning was 100x worse than Bortles. At least when things fail Bortles in the playoffs has proven he'll get first downs with his legs.

lol no. Manning had experience on his side. This will be a blow out. They gave up 40 points to Steelers. Jaguar defense isn't even that good.

I am absolutely thrilled the Steelers are out of it. Brown an Bell would have shredded us. I would rather have the offense challenged by a good defense (Aka play against the Jags) than have our defense tested against a good O (aka playing Pitt).

Our corners need to play well enough that we can get away with 8 in the box. Shouldn't be too much of an issue. Keep Jax under 20.

Play smart and a little conservative on offense. We don't need 30 points to win. 24 should be enough. Steelers put up crazy points on Jax no reason we can't get 24+.

Jags have the kind of defense that could give Brady issues. If Bortles doesn’t make a mistake, they get run game going and the jags defense can get a massive pass rush, sure the jags can win.

If not? If they don’t sack Brady and pressure him
Mercilessly, he is going to pick them apart.

And, we are assuming bortles doesn’t make a mistake.

I just see the patriots with a large margin of error here. Hard to beat that. Very narrow road to victory for the Jags.

Will be a close first half, followed by the Pats pulling ahead comfortably in the second. Something like 27-17.

This game reminds me of Houston last year. Really, really good defense, average QB, middling offense.

I hope the Eagles win the NFC. Rather not face the Vikings in a road Super Bowl game, but hey this team just keeps making history, so if it happens, so be it.

But man, if you were to tell me at the start of the season the Pats would get to face Mariota and Bortles in the playoffs and one of Keenum or Foles in the Super Bowl, I’d laugh my ass off and tell you to get off the drugs.

Easiest route the Pats have ever had, besides the whole “road Super Bowl” possibility.

I'm not even a Patriots fan but I've been saying the Jags are the biggest threat to New England in the AFC.

Definitely happy to see Jax beat Pittsburgh. I've really grown to dislike them. It's one thing to be confident, it's another to be cocky; some of their players are just outright morons that needed a beatdown/reality check. Overlooking the Jags (who destroyed them earlier on) to focus on New England...again. Just so stupid. They got what they had coming to them.

Not trying to look ahead like the Steelers but since I'm not a player and I want some opinions on this, who would you rather face in the playoffs if the Pats beat the Jags: Eagles or Vikings? (super bowl is in Vikings stadium)

Pats don't have a player named David Harrison. You are thinking of David Harris who has barely played all year

Eagles most definitely. Vikings have better QB, WR's, and defense and would have a home game

The Jags do worry me more than the Steelers would have. Steelers lack karma if not also a little bit of leadership as long as Big Ben is under center.

Anyways, I feel like there are still a lot of stops to be pulled out. We have yet to see too much of James White lined up as a receiver. Philip Dorsett and Kenny Britt are both elite-ish talents who can be involved more as needed. Brandin Cooks is capable of much more than we have seen. I feel pretty good about our chances this year.

The first time we pulled three Super Bowls in four years, we beat the Eagles to do it. I wonder if that will happen again this time around.

I'm not so sure. I think Foles is probably an upgrade over Wentz, despite Wentz's impressive statline this year. Wentz is a guy drafted in part for his height/profile and was only a year removed from a 16/14 TD/INT ratio. Alshon Jeffery is a stud who got stuck catching passes from Jay Cutler for many years. Zach Ertz has big play potential. They have good depth @ RB, they Legarette Blount could assist with prep, and they posted a better turnover ratio than the Vikings this season and were just as effective pressuring QBs.

We need to beat the Jags first. It's not going to be a cakewalk in any way.

Remember the last time we faced Coughlin?

As a fan of the Jags since 20 years, I have been a fan through good and bad times.
After many years of suffering we are 1 game away from a Superbowl appearance. Of course, I don't expect the Jags to beat the GOAT, but there is always a small chance. Brady and BB are not cocky like the Steelers, they will take this game very seriously.
I just don't want this to be a one and done. Keep making the playoffs every year, and building a winning culture in Jax.

I can tell you that Jags fans enjoy every single minute in the Playoffs, and it's already a huge win to be in the AFC Championship game. This team record last season was 3-13, that's a big improvement.

Regardless, Keenum is better than Foles. Diggs and Theilen is hands down better than Jeffrey and Agholor/Smith. Ertz has the advantage over Rudolph. Running backs are both solid - advantage to the Eagles since Dalvin Cook tore his ACL earlier this year for the Vikings. I tend to prefer the vikings defense but both are top 5 so it's pretty much a wash.
