Man, that was painful. Did Simmons really just equate getting Randy Moss to having a mid-life crisis? Can somebody really write 1,000+ words on football and not make a logical point? Yeah, I know: sports entertainment writer. Still, there should be some standards of actual quality involved.

Can someone explain to me about this "character issue" with Meriweather? I know the incidents in question but is the gun thing really that bad? He is the first sports related person to use a gun and have it fully licensed and permit and registered and everything? Is my coming from the boondocks clouding my judgment on people owning firearms? mahalo

Can we use this as a catch-all for dumb/lazy/bizarre reactions to the draft? Lots of crap published thus far, from a Shaughnessy column today talking down to anyone who likes the Moss trade to Dr. Z-enile refusing to give the Pats' draft a grade and PUTTING IT AT THE TOP OF THE ARTICLE SO EVERYONE KNOWS ABOUT IT.

And these guys get paid to write.

I love how you can almost hear the sneer on Dr. Zzzzzzz

I like to pretend that he's actually dictating (yelling) the column to a trembling young SI intern so he can continually shake a fist with one of his free hands.

He shot at someone, that seems like it could be an issue to me.

But only after being shot at first. What is a licensed concealed firearm good for if you cant use it for self defense?

He shot at someone trying to break and enter his or his friend's apartment (I can't remember which), and he did so with a registered gun that he fully licensed to carry. This is the first gun related incident that I have heard where the athlete was a completely responsible and law abiding citizen. It's not a concern in my eyes. mahalo
