How would you feel about dealing for Lance Briggs. With the market almost completely gone for any Lance Briggs takers, and the fact he is only 26, we could easily add him to our LB's. We could shift those five around, and keep everyone fresh. Bruschi and Vrabel are in their UFA year, and Briggs could step right in and take one of those spots next year. If Samuel and Briggs are both signed to long-term deals, their will be plenty of cap room. Samuel has about an 8.5 million dollar cap hit this year, but that is diminished if he's signed long term. Correct me if wrong, but Colvin could play an ILB spot in the 3-4. Right now, Briggs' value is about a 2nd round pick, and maybe even a third and a day two pick. With two first round picks, losing a second or a third would not really effect the draft too much, and Briggs is well worth it. I think he could succomm(sp?) to the Patriots style, and would be willing to play in a 3-4 to get back to the Super Bowl and have a damn good shot to win it. Also, Colvin is due close to 7.5 million next year. I think Briggs will make less than that. We could trade or release Colvin, draft an ILB next year, and re-sign Vrabel and/or Bruschi. Just an idea.

No Colvin can't be a ILB in a 3-4 as he would get run over. How is Brigg's value a 2nd round pick when they turned down the 6th overall pick from Washington? Why would you extend Samuel when you have a full year to further evaluate whether he is what he showed in 06 before you toss him a ton of money? This team is so dependent on their Defensive line and Warren and Wilfork will be due for money in the next 2-3 years.

Well in his defense, they say Jonathan Vilma was too small to play inside in a 3-4 and he looks pretty damn good heh.

We don't need briggs we just signed Junior Seuo(sp) And have a pretty good linebaking core aready

I just think for the upcoming years he would be a good fit. Bruschi and Vrabel are UFA at the end of the season which leaves 1/2 of the starters gone or needing to be re-signed. Colvin is due a ridiclous amount of money next year, and all of the linebackers will be 30 entering or during the season. [/code]
