Trotter just released?
Is this guy someone to look at considering he still wants to stick around the league? He could be a good insurance guy to add to the LB core.

As much as I like him the injury and age make him a risky proposition for a roster spot on a team full of age/injury concerns at the LB position. Plus he

apparently him and Andy Reid talked and Reid urged him to retire and that was that.
I agree fully that he is not worth any large sume of money over a few years, but for 1 year as insurance he could be perfect...Just hold and wait to see if he gets any other offers and if he does not he may become desperate to play.
With no major injuries this year the Patriots have no excuse to not hoist the trophy at the end of the year and Trotter is just another insurance piece that could help gurantee that this year.

The Eagles just never liked this guy, and he kept coming back like a glutton for punishment. The whole thing where they ditched him, then begged him back, then once he came back didn't start him until they had absolutely no other choice (and he went on to have a probowl year and saved their run defense) should have been a sign for him to leave. I guess him dominating against the Falcons in the NFC championship game bought him a couple years, but the Eagles finally got 'rid of him like they've wanted to all along.
But anyway, I'd love for the Pats to snag him if there is little/no prorated signing bonus (i.e. they can cut him without much of a penalty if it doesn't work out). He's still a top-notch run stopper, so at an absolute minimum he could play the Levon Kirkland at the end of his career role, and just play 1st/2nd and short downs inside of the 3-4. Even if most other facets of his game are washed up (which I'm not so sure is true), there's little doubt he'd still be one of the best in that limited interior run stopping role.
