with samuel back in the fold, im excited about our secondary, particularly the safeties. sanders, andrews, and meriweather all seem on the verge of emerging impact wise.
TheTrio, did you adjust your allen sig? i like it

Thanks, but Trixx made this sig. Did a good job too.
I too am excited about the secondary. First time in a while. Meriweather said hes alright, nothing wrong with him, but the refs made him come out.

I thought "Hit Stick" (best...nickname...ever) looked all right, though he got toasted by Shockey a couple times. Generally my impression has been that he is incredibly strong for his size and a top-notch tackler, but struggles when asked to play 1 vs. 1 coverage, or deep center field. So basically, I think he'll ultimately be best playing SS for the Pats instead of FS despite that he doesn't have prototype size for it.
As for other stuff:
-Pierre Woods looked good again. He's going to be a starter for someone in about two years, and I hope it's the Patriots because he looks like he might be a beast.
-Still like O'Callaghan, still think he should be the starting RT.
-Brit also played well (like always in preseason), maybe this will finally be the year he puts it together and contributes. May seem unlikely, but people said the same thing about Banta-Cain.
-The DLs were all pretty good, but I thought "Le Kevin" or whatever his name is stood out. He outplayed the Giants 1st string OLs, and seems to get wherever he wants. He could maybe be a Kelly Gregg type someday, if he decides he wants to put in the effort.
-Bam Childress is still Bam Childress. Anyone who watches Pats preseason games knows the deal with him; he's sooooo close, but just not quite good enough to warrant getting a real shot with this team. I have no idea why he sticks around (is he stuck under contract?), he would make most teams as at least the #4 WR. That doesn't sound like much, but beats the practice squad.
-The LB Alexander was OK. Even if he gets cut he played well enough to ensure he'll be on a team somewhere this year. Definitely a strong tackler.
-Too bad for Lua. If he hadn't gotten hurt, I'd have said the exact same thing about him I said about Alexander, i.e. that he'd make a team somewhere.
-I don't get why Vinny T is on the team (assuming he will be). Cassell either is, or should be, the backup. And to me, 3rd string is for trying out cheap young guys in the hopes you get lucky. Imagine if we'd kept a guy like Vinny T instead of a young Brady.
-Love the FB Heath Evans. Hate the RB Heath Evans.
-So where's Patrick Pass? I know I'm not lucky enough for him to actually be gone (am I?), so does anyone know what his deal is.
-Why didn't Wright play? Again, it's like the thing with Evans. I love the scrappy situational inside pass rusher version of Wright, but hate the version expected to play a big enough role this season to warrant not playing the final preseason game. Dude can get after the QB incredibly well, but on running plays he should be counted as an extra blocker for the opposing team he's so awful. It's frustrating to watch him, because I just don't get how the quickness and tenacity that help so much in one area can totally disappear in another.
-Didn't care much for the RB out of Rice. Seems to have decent hands, but can't run the ball at all.
-The TE Rivers is OK. The TE/FB/H-back Mills isn't as good right now, but definitely has more upside. I thought he did well when they used him at FB for a couple plays, but he struggled with the TE/H-back thing.
-Andrews is fast, and pretty strong for a guy who can be described as fast, but needs to learn to take better angles. Or just learn to take angles period; the thing where he was the only guy fast/strong enough to beat his blocker and get to Droughns on that one long run, but then he didn't know how to take a good angle so he just kind of chased him around until Droughns tired himself out was the most obvious example, but sadly not the only one. He definitely has the physical tools and coverage skills, but the basics of how to cut off the field seem to have somehow escaped his understanding.
-Whoever who played most of the game at center did well, relative to the competition, but I never caught his name. I think he was #60, but I could be wrong about that.
-Hanson is a good enough punter, so let's all just hope there are no fiascoes that somehow result in Ken Walters punting for us again this year. It always cracks me up that the front-office/coaching staff has no real weakness except the ability to figure out the punter situation year to year. It's like they all sat down and said "let's all screw up the punter thing every year just to let everyone know we're not infallible." Yet somehow it always works out in the end. I'd prefer this year they just stick with Hanson and be done with the whole process.
-Whoever #2 is, I do not like him as a return man.
I guess that's it for now. Someone should say something about the CB who had all the nice pass defenses on the long bomb attempts to Smith, but I'm too tired.
