The Patriots enter Cincinnati Monday night as the consensus best team in the NFL. The statistics certainly agree: the Patriots are currently first in total VOA, first in offensive VOA, and second in defensive VOA and, more importantly, first in DAVE (DAVE is an early-season method of adjusting for opponent by combining preseason projections with the first few weeks of production.) While some of this is skewed due to the assumption that both San Diego and the Jets were above-average teams entering this season (which may still be true), all that really matters is how convincingly the Patriots have disposed of their opponents. Aside from the sloppy first half against the Bills, the Patriots have dominated every quarter of every game they have played.
