A source close to Adam Seward said the restricted free agent linebacker had a good meeting with the Patriots tonight and expects to receive a contract offer. Seward, whose first career tackle came against the Patriots

kinda surprised we havent heard anything on this front. im desperate just to feel like were looking at linebackers. im sure well draft a corner, whether with the 7 or not, and i feel like gholston is a fit if hes BPA, but i feel like theres so few players that do what we want at ILB we need to be uber proactive

im sure were doing that more than the public knows, but id really love to hear about it...

^^Surprised as well. I thought for sure, as did every media outlet, that the pats were going to look at Haggans. Never happened. Then Takeo Spikes, still hasn't happened. Then to not offer Seward a contract? I just get the feeling belicheck sees someone in the draft that he wants to fill rosey's role.

im actually not surprised they didnt look at spikes, surprised they wouldnt visit with haggans just to check him out but then again, theyve seen him a lot

Haggans signs one year deal with cardinals. What is wrong with this guy that teams are seeing? Did he want too much money or something?

Anyway, there was a blurb in the Sacramento Bee that the pats are still interested in Takeo Spikes.

its interesting that the local beat writers seem to feel theres no interest in spikes, while non local writers connect them

i feel like a number of teams think haggans is a product of the pittsburgh system

btw, speaking of linebackers, whats with the bad luck that the one year in which we have a high pick, two of the linebackers who we mightve drafted high (laurinaitis, maualuga) both stay in school. are we just not allowed a shot at young linebackers who fit our system, and maybe im just ranting, but wouldnt you think theyd jump at the chance to get drafted in the top 10 by a team thats actually not terrible? i dunno, this linebacker thing has been frustrating for years...even jasper brinkley stayed in school

Good points on both.

Biasm (used to be a fav. player) wants spikes here. If, big if, he can stay healthy, I think he would fit right in.

im not against a spikes addition, but i dont know how much he would add at this point, if he really gives anything tedy and seau dont. if theres no one else, i say why not, but i feel like seward is on hold until they see what happens in the draft, and seward is young enough that ill take him over a guy who might be a little more talented thats further along in his career or has injury concerns. i think seward could be a solid, but unspectacular, workhorse type player.

we could use a horse in the middle

edit: and i guess we still dont know whats up with seau so theres a lot in the air
