http://www.boston.com/sports/football/p ... d_jac.htmlIn a surprising move, the Patriots informed wide receiver Chad Jackson this morning that they are cutting him from the roster, according to a league source.
Jackson, the team's second-round draft choice in 2006, entered training camp in a battle for the No. 3 job previously occupied by Donte' Stallworth. He also took repetitions as a punt returner.
Completely shocked, I thought this would be a make or break year for him with Stallworth gone, and maybe opening up some time for him.
Looks like Gaffney solidified his spot at the 3rd WR, but who's next?

I wasn't surprised at the Jackson cut (just the timing). Even though jackson performed well in the end, after the first preseason game, I had a feeling he was gone. I also thought cassell was gone after that game too, but according to steve buckley, brady had some words on this issue. Brady believes in Cassell, which is why he is here.

I still do not buy the story that Brady is the reason Cassell is still here. I doubt they even care what Brady feels on the issue, nor should they.
As for Jackson, I'm surprised he made it this long.

I buy it.
All preaseason games, what was the one thing you heard consistently from Don Criqui and Randy Cross..."This team loves Matt Gutierez (I butchered is name)" and as well nice things on O'Connell. Nothing positive about cassell.
Why would they cut Matt G, when cassell had sucked it up?? Brady had to have some say in the matter. Maybe convinced josh mcdaniels that he could get the job done? I don't know, but something fishy went on there, otherwise cassell would have been cut like Jackson.

I'm assuming that Cassell knows the offense the best and they still trust the guy. If Bill is making moves based on what Brady thinks, this team maybe in trouble.

Isn't that why Jackson is gone though? Reports came out that brady never felt comfortable with Chad, which is a key factor.
I am not saying bill makes the moves solely on what brady says, but you have to think brady does have a decent chunk of say on QB/Offensive issues. He is one of the smartest QB's to ever play the game, and has been there since the beginning of the run. If BB doesn't at least listen to what brady has to say, then we wouldn't have been this far.

Jackson never had a clue on what he was doing. Of course Brady wouldn't be comfortable with that. I'm sure they ask Brady who he feels better with and who he trusts. But if he's even listening to Brady who the backup QB should be, BB is not the coach I thought he was.

Does that make him a bad coach? Listening to your QB (who you trust) on QB issues. If brady said he was fine, then BB listened and added that fact into his decision not to sign a vet backup. Then it doesn't make him a bad coach.
