Backup QB

Post#1 » by NES 247 » Sat Feb 28, 2009 9:54 pm

With Cassel be shipped out of town and Brady and O'Connel being our only quaterbacks on the roster, we need to bring in another one. Despite all the postive news about Brady, I want to have a backup plan. I won't be relieved on until I see him out there playing and dropping back without and issues. Anyway teams have to three QB's so here's a list of FA QB's

Patrick Ramsey
Kerry Collins
Charlie Batch
Kyle Boller
Rex Grossman
Byron Leftwich
J.P. Losman
Kurt Warner
Jeff Garcia
Charlie Frye
Brooks Bollinger
Chris Simms
J.T. O’Sullivan
Matt Gutierrez
Gibran Hamdan
Luke McCown
Brock Berlin
Shane Boyd

O'Connel won't be ready to play significant time so we need to bring a guy in. Names on the list like Warner and Garcia want starting jobs, so disregard some of them.

Damon Huard. Either way, god forbid brady goes down with another injury, they are going to do the same thing they did with O'Connell as they did with Cassel.

Matt Gutierrez.

They know what he can bring and he knows the system.

J.T. O’Sullivan is somebody that I would look at, I think he could be a solid backup. Huard wouldn't be a bad option either.

I'm actually excited about KOC. If they can get Brady and Cassel outta picks so low just imagine what they have with a 3rd rounder. Though I wouldn't mind Huard if they go the vet route.

I'd like Leftwich and being in Pittsburgh a year he probably knows how to play in the cold.

^ Yeah probably. I remember people were pissed that Guiterez was cut and Cassel wasn't at the end of the preseason. I just got the feeling O'Connel is just to young (only his 2nd year) to take over for a lot of the season if Brady went down again. I feel that this year the Pats would search the FA market for QB's if Brady was to be hurt again for an extended amount of time.
