Ellis Hobbs Traded

Post#1 » by Celtics_Champs » Sun Apr 26, 2009 5:31 pm

The Patriots have traded Ellis Hobbs to the Eagles for two fifth-round draft choices (137 and 141), the team announced on its Twitter page.

Now... the chung pick makes some sense.

Well, so long Hobbs, you were a good returner.

Works for me, never much of a fan of Hobbs. Hate guys who think they are better than they really are out there. I guess this means that Springs and Bodden will be the two corners. Then with the three young guys backing them up.

I'm shocked but not by Hobbs being traded... I'm shocked that it was to Philadelphia. I wonder where do they go with Sheldon Brown, he's still signed longterm. I don't understand this trade for the Eagles. You've a disgruntled Brown who's dissatisfied with his contract and now acquire Hobbs who's seeking a new contract and raise. This only makes sense if Brown's traded... But, has Philadelphia given any indication that they want to trade him.

I suspect that Butler will assume the role that Hobbs now vacates on special teams.

They needed to unload a corner either way, so I guess it might as well have been Hobbs. I'm gonna go into next season in fear that he'll suddenly put it together and those flashes of Pro Bowl-caliber coverage will form into consistent play.

Hobbs absolutely sucked as a corner - great return man, **** corner. Prior to last year, 2 years in a row he was the guy who was beat in the end-zone by a long pass that ended our playoffs. As a corner, never made a big play. Thanks for the effort.

The only thing I will miss about Hobbs is his return game.
