He used to play for Carlisle. We’ve got a spare big to throw Phoenix’s way in Theis and maybe a protected second rounder in 2027.
This team badly needs leadership and a guy who’s been to the finals twice would help in a big way.

Re: Let’s get Jae Crowder
This is a timeline question both for us and for Jae. If we were trying to make the playoffs this year, he'd fit our needs much better than Theis or Hield, but we're not. You also have to ask why he is unhappy in Phx and if he'd be happier on a bottom feeder.

He’s been. Lear he’s unhappy anywhere he’s not starting, that’s not winning, and he’s not getting full minutes.
He’s a great idea as a player and vet. But, with this team finally looking to rebuild and develop, he won’t be happy (based on his past actions), and he’ll not be ok with trying to get any extra minutes for Duarte, Mathurin, Jackson, Nembhard, Smith, etc if it takes one single minute away from him on the court (especially in a contract year).
I think Indy should be looking at getting involved as a 3rd team in any possible deal for eating salary.

I'd be happy having a real 3 but Hield would have to be in the deal so that Mathurin and Duarte have 48 minutes at the 2 and 18 minutes at the 3 to divide. I know I left out Nesmith but he hasn't shown me anything yet. I've also not allowed for Brissett or Taylor to be 3's but I'm not optimistic about that either. I hope our eventual 3 is in the next draft.
That said, Johnson seems happy to be here and I doubt Jae would be.

I think the team should be exploring deals where we get a SF and a draft pick from some team in the tax who wants to get out or reduce it. Who would that be? I have no clue.

Re: Let’s get Jae Crowder
I don't mind a good backup SF, someone like Kyle Anderson, as a stop gap measure
The 48 SF minutes can be split like this:
20 minutes to Anderson
20 minutes split between Duarte and Mathurin
8 minutes to develop Nesmith (or whoever)
Hield has to go out in a trade for a SF though, otherwise there won't be enough minutes at SG for Duarte and Mathurin
Basically it would be good to trade Hield for a decent backup SF
But I think Pacers just stand pat and let Hield and Duarte and Mathurin and Nesmith absorb all the minutes at 2 and 3
Play out the season and see what they get in the draft, and then go from there
Lack of a true SF shouldn't be a problem for now

I think that's right particularly because we also don't have a true PF. I think we need to be creative and play some scheme designed for three guards and two centers. on defense that suggests a zone. on offense it suggests some sort of double post although we never did that with Turbonis.
