Re: Goga involved in altercation
Hate to say much of anything without more information. However, if it actually was a three-on-one situation, that is not a good look.

Re: Goga involved in altercation
Will be interesting to see once more reporting comes out. Unless there's some real bad information I think it may take quite a bit for him to not get cut at this point. He's expiring, has had attitude issues in the past, there's a bit of a logjam with the bigs as is, and we clearly want good character guys.

That's the thing though, isn't it? We have, so far, only heard from one side about what happened. If it was right outside the locker area, you would think there might be security cameras, and they would have captured what transpired.
I suppose we are in wait-and-see mode.

Re: Goga involved in altercation
So far, even from the Turkish coach/announcer that tweeted it out, Tornike Shengelia is the only guy listed as having gotten violent. Sounds like the other teammates were merely there?
Obviously, let’s wait for more information. If Goga went crazy and was violent off the court, then clearly we have something to examine. But, it’s also possible he did nothing.

Unless there’s video released, I don’t know anyone will ever know what happened. At this point, both sides are saying diametrically opposite things happened.

Re: Goga involved in altercation
Excerpt from an article on sports illustrated about Korkmaz's account on what happened:
"“When I was walking to the tunnel, our conditioning guy was with me. As soon as we walked out of the tunnel and were trying to reach the locker room, I saw three Georgian players alongside two security guys running at us. We started throwing punches at each other. That’s basically what happened,” Korkmaz said"

That sounds like it doesn't add up
What were the two security guys doing there? Were they trying to stop a fight, or start one?
How did things go from guys running at them to punches being thrown? Feels like a lot of details were omitted
It's strange that Korkmaz was given a chance to air his side of the story, and all he could manage is a vague description like this with many details missing
Sounds highly sus to me

I agree with the general idea that nobody will really know the truth about what happened, especially with all the finger pointing being done afterwards. That said, the official statement from Turkey's organization and individual accounts from Turkish players all accuse security of being involved in the altercation against them instead of trying to prevent it.
Hard to prove or know for sure, but on that point their side is at least consistent.

Re: Goga involved in altercation
I suppose the good news is neither side has filed any kind of assault charges or the like. We can hope the initial report was somewhat exaggerated? Hopefully?

As John Hollinger pointed out, unless a conviction of charges was achieved, it's infinitely unlikely this would carry over to the NBA in any way. Basically, I think we would just hope that Goga didn't do anything insanely egregious.

Even moreso, Goga is the second longest tenured Pacer at the moment, behind only Turner.
