lots of players can't be traded until December 15 so there'll be a flurry in a week.

The road trip is over so this thread did its duty. how should we proceed? do we go back to a thread per game, or a thread for the rest of December or ???

I'm fine with whatever you want to do. Between you and Scoot, you guys are the biggest contributors so just make yourselves happy and don't worry about it.

I suspect he will play out the year without getting much playing time and that's it. If another team offers something for him, I'd say take it right away. Not sure if any team will be offering much though.

I would not expect more than a late 2nd, but more likely he'd be salary balancing in a bigger trade maybe involving Buddy depending on how our next 20 games go. I've said a few times the date I have circled for the Pacers making trades is Jan 15th.

Goga is salary filler nothing more in value.

He does clear a roster spot in a trade.

He's loosely proven to be an NBA caliber guy, so maybe he'd return a 2nd (for a lesser guy), or could net a guy at a better position of use that equally hasn't produced in the NBA so far, but hasn't looked like straight garbage (Cam Reddish?).

But yeah. I think if Turner is dealt, and Theis remains injured, Goga would get some serious run and demonstrably prove himself to either be a long-term NBA player, or heading back to Europe at years end. He produced when he got some minutes at the beginning of this season when Turner was out. :dontknow: Otherwise, yup, he's mostly a salary filler right now. Maybe he's packaged in a deal, or he's just moved for the roster spot, etc.

I cannot understand Carlisle's refusal to make better use of Goga. As you say, he has given decent production when given the chance. Maybe he peed in the coach's corn flakes or something? Is he a "problem child" at practice? I just don't get it. To me, Goga has not been treated well at all by the coach.

At least it appears (by looking at the box score from the last game) that Carlisle has finally decided ordaining Smith the starting PF may have been a mistake and brought him off the bench in the last outing. So maybe there is hope, but I doubt it.

my guess is that Goga can't play as fast as the coach wants the team to play.

I think this was a one game match-up move as Miami plays a small 4.

^^^^^^^^^ This is my feeling also because he has talent but just seems too slow to box out and defend most bigs.
