Wrapped up a few minutes ago. It was a little weird.

Yeah, but Pritchard immediately corrected himself to say “a nice core, not a great core”.

I'd but the stress on beginning. Is there more work to be done? sure. but I got the sense that we're set for now but will be aggressive in the summer both in the draft and in free agency.

Interesting that they have that graphic ready one day after the extension

I wonder whether someone in their graphics department put it together at the drop of a hat

Or did they already have that prepared in advance

If it's the latter, wouldn't it be cool to have access to their graphics department, to see what else they got prepared

Hey guys, I heard on a podcast, I think it was Dunc’d on, that the language around renegotiation and trading a player is murky in the cba and if it looks like that was the plan from the beginning the nba could investigate. So it is no surprise the gm would need to make it look like the intent initially is solely to keep Turner.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Got any other false conspiracy theories to share?

It’s not a false conspiracy, per se. It’s in the CBA that a “renegotiation cannot be in conjunction with a trade”, and we all know that Pritchard loves his flexibility. Add in that the contract is set up in an exactly specific manner that Turner could be tradeable today, and it’s not hard to see they had to work to do that.

However, there’s questions as to what “in conjunction with” means. Does that mean as part of a one fell swoop kind of move? If Turner plays a game, does that cover all tracks? Etc.

But I don’t think they specifically R&E’ed him to trade him. However, I think they worked the deal specifically to have the option should a crazy offer come in, though.

they did sign the deal before the trade deadline which tells me the felt no need to have big cap space available for a deal this week.

also, the Pacers have a history of telling players when trading them is under discussion. Turner's press conference told us that hadn't happened recently.

More than anything, I think the two sides came to agreement on a VERY fair deal. When it came down that Turner was willing to R&E for less than $60m in new money for 2 more years, I think it was pretty easy to say "forget the cap space, just take the good deal when you see it".

Whether or not there's a deal involved, who's to say? But also, you did what you should, and signed a good player for a good salary.

Turner is not going anywhere by the middle of next year he's gonna be getting some real attention for what he does. 6'11'' runs the floor well, defends, blocks a bunch of shots and hits the 3 at 40%. Anyone else got one of those?
