So for the entire game recap in my opinion:
The good
Turner
Nembhard
Toppin
Sheppard
Walker
Swider
~~~~~~~~~~~
The Average
Mathurin
Q Jax
I Jax
Wiseman
Freeman
The offense
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Bad
Newton
Brown
The Defense
As Carlisle noted after the game our first unit wasn’t prepared for the Grizzlies physical play and the Grizzlies led 11-0 before Nembhard hit a 3. Mathurin couldn’t keep up with his man and he was out of sync on offense also.
As much as they tried there was no answer for Bane and Edey. Finally in the last couple of minutes the Pacers subs got the score closer.
Others might have seen it differently but I was expecting better from the Pacers and it was a struggle all night long.
My daughter asked who I thought would win if Memphis and Indiana were healthy and playing their starters. I really feel like it would be a split of the 2 game series.

Pacers could use a month of practice.

Starting unit so out of sync. Tyrese and Myles great tonight. Other 3 not so much. Second unit so so.
Third unit plus Sheppard was fun to watch tonight. Came from 10 down in the 4th to go to overtime and win.
Freeman is straight up balling. Quite the compliment when the coach says a 2 way might have to be active to bring energy the first game.

While you could look at it as being positive for Freeman, what does it say about the players ahead of him who, I guess, are not bringing that energy? Is it a concern, or is coach using that to sort of give the others a kick in the butt?

To me it’s a concern but we really don’t know if players are dogging it in preseason because the games don’t matter. Too many injuries already with Furphy, Toppin, and Isiah Jax out.
We knew Freeman was going to bring it from his summer league effort and his motor. He was the nation’s leading rebounder in college.

Re: Preseason games cumulative post
How should game threads be handled? I liked the accumulative preseason topic. do we want to try to create threads for every game or would periodic (monthly?) accumulative threads work?

I personally like the continuation of the accumulation threads. We tend to have lulls where we don't have a thread at all, so it'd be nice to have something. Don't really care if it's a week at a time, a month at a time, or just indefinite.

One of the biggest problems we have is no active moderator. If they’re reading this post please make someone moderator that posts weekly at minimum.

To be fair, this forum runs pretty smoothly and doesn’t really need super active moderation?

No doubt it runs smoothly. I don’t know but don’t they have special privileges to organize the forum ? That’s all I was saying.

Oh, absolutely. Sticky and non-sticky, move posts, split threads and combine threads. Stuff like that. Even then, it’s just not soooo busy that they need to do stuff constantly here? Like, I stepped down from actively moderating here when it ran this smoothly and there was a couple other guys modding to do the stuff every couple days or so. And when I had kids.
