Purdue's Goldin in the late second?
Michigan?
oops, yes Michigan
We've talked about Beringer,... IMO, a few guys with high upsides that could currently be under-rated, or a couple of 'boom or bust' guys that could put it all together?
IMO,... I see Fleming & Thiero right now as underrated, at least on mocks?... Both are excellent defenders, who's skills should translate, and they both come from switch heavy, more NBA styled defenses. Neither is a 'wow you', above the rim player, but both are really long, with above average NBA quickness & body control. The kind of guys that don't put up huge stat lines, but really impact winning, & could start as early as their 2nd year as key role players?
In that vein,... I think Carter Bryant is a bit underrated,... He's dropped recently into the late lottery, post-lottery,... IMO, He's a sorta 7 - 10 player in this draft. If he were to somehow,... miraculously fall into the late teens or 20's, I'd grab him. (That isn't going to happen.)
As well as a couple of internationals,... Ben Saraf, Hugo Gonzalez, Markovic?... All are 'ranked' in the late first, early second, but have real NBA athleticism & skills. They make take a bit of time to adjust to the NBA, but shouldn't end up with a career at the end of a bench?
For us?... I'll stick with my other posts,... I like Yanic Konan Niederhauser,.... He's got Hakeem Olajuwon athleticism, with sorta 90% Christian Koloko level skills. Not been playing that long, & has made huge improvements over the last year. He could be just too old & unable to pick up the level of skill & nuances of playing in the NBA, or he could stay on his learning curve and develop into a top 50 player in the league. Right now, there's no real trend on which way he could go,... but the upside could be worth it? (Boom or Bust - LOL)
Sion James, Javon Small, RJ Luis are all the kind of NBA level athletes that have (at least typically) been able to stick around for a season or 2, learn on the job, then suddenly & 'unexpectedly', become key parts to contenders rotations as their skills develop to something approaching an NBA level?
The one I just can't get my head around is Grant Nelson? definitely an NBA level athlete. Average verticality, but everything else is +, and his quickness could be elite,... at least for a 6'10" player. Had great stats 2 years ago,... transferred from ND state to Alabama, (which was questioned at the time, as 'Bama didn't match his skillset?) and has seemingly regressed a bit? (doesn't look overmatched? just looks like he doesn't fit?) He needs a 3 point shot, and is really more of the 3/4 than a 4/5 even at 230#,... again, he's an older potential draftee at 23, having played 5 years in College. If he put it all together as a defender & developed just a threat of the 3-pointer, could have a long career in the league? (neither of which is out the question,... but neither is particularly likely?)
