I found it ironic when JO initially came back, after his annual off-season surgical repair, our team lost every ounce of optimism they shared. Forget the start we had, after he came back and we started losing, he made a statement that our team wasn't very good. It is blaringly obvious this team would rather play w/o JO, their energy and passion tell me that.

JO is the cancer on this team because of his greediness to be viewed as the unquestioned leader, when in fact his leadership capabilities are miniscule. No true leader demeans the value of his teammates, leaders demand everyone play at a high level. So who's gonna speak up and demand JO step up?

JO said the Nets were a preferred destination, my only question to him would be. If he wanted out so badly, why did he open his mouth and basically screw the Pacers to the degree he did? Contention to ride the IR, w/o having to deal with another local media questioning his skills and determination. Indy is far to nice, in most other cities they'd demand he played like the fourth highest paid player in the league.

Either way JO will get his because he has decided to be lazy and settle for 2 yrs 40 million. There is absolutely no way he'll opt-out now.

Chew on this, the longer JO sits our draft selection gets worse.

Although I do wish that he did say nothing......knowing that his knee is not 100%, .JONeal would not have passed the vigorous physical that the Nets would put him through.

^^^ Very good point !

I guess my problem with JO is that I honestly believe he doesn't condition enough to compensate for getting older. You see with JO his body parts fail in succession ( back, neck, foot, shoulder, ankle). It's always something different, which could easily be related to his conditioning or lack of. It's either conditioning or that he has morphed into a lazy hypochondriac (sp).

Seriously, has anyone ever actually witnessed JO get injured during a game. Towards the end of last season the team reported JO could miss an extended period of time, he came back a few nights later and scored roughly 36 with 15-16 boards.

I guess JO's unpredictability just pisses me off something fierce.

Well, JO's definitely gotten injured when I've watched...

First, how can anyone forget the hyperextension he suffered in the playoffs vs. Detroit a few years back? It was worse to me than when Williis McGahee got hurt in that OSU-Miami title game in 2002.

The other game I saw a really bad injury was the one he suffered at the hand (well, actually, whole arm) of Francisco Elson. It was when Elson was still a Nugget, and he absolutely hammered JO. O'Neal was in one of his patented over-the-head turnaround Js, and Elson creamed him, giving JO that separated shoulder. It looked horrible, and I bet it felt even worse.

JO's gotten beat up quite a bit, and even though he's a big, he's lanky and not very thick. He's an '80s PF in a 2008 NBA. Some can survive, while others falter. JO needs to sit out all year, unless we want to showcase him for a trade... then, we should get him back onto the court first game after the AS Break.

Otherwise, we should hold him out as long as possible, and bring him back if we make the playoffs and tell him to mimic everything that Feisty and Hulk do.

I don't get the sense that JONeal will be ( or is happy now ) with JO'B ( or the Pacers FO ) asking him to just focus on rebounding/defense ( which means he has to take more abuse ) and less on scoring ( which I think that he is used to and would prefer to do ).

I don't think so either, but JO has also said that he wants to do what's best for the team, and he can still get good numbers if he changed the way he plays.

I'd like to think that we are similar to NO, except we have Tinsley instead of CP3. BIG DIFFERENCE! I know! But I think if we can provide JO w/ a good reason or example to play like Camby or Chandler, he'd be more convinced that that is the way he can help both this team and himself the most.

I would like to believe that as well.....but I think his ego will in the way....especially if we start losing games.
